Cherry Blossom photo walk

The cherry blossoms in downtown Washington, D.C. are in full bloom! Unlike the changing leaves in the Autumn, the cherries never disappoint. They always come out with vibrant colors in a nice setting setup by the National Park Service. The only question is when exactly the blooms will pop. With the colder than normal weather this year, the peak bloom was delayed until this week.

Tidal Basin Walk

We had family and friends from out of town even make a special visit to see them. I decided to take my own photo walk this morning to get a look for myself. It is another beautiful year down at the Tidal Basin! This was my first time at the MLK Memorial too which is situated at a corner of the basin near the Lincoln Memorial, facing into basin. Since it was a weekday, I could not get to the basin very quickly with the morning traffic, so the light was not ideal. I tried my best to make some nice images with the sun higher in the sky. There were so many photographers around the basin this morning – making unique images is very tough, but  I am still working on some others, but here are my favorites so far – enjoy!

This last image is one taken by my old Nikon D100 that I had converted for infrared capture by Lifepixel. I am definitely out of practice in capturing infrared images. The white balance and Photoshop conversion required to make these images view able would make a great blog post. I’m not even sure I did it correctly since it has been so long! I’ll definitely revisit these images and share more of them soon.

Spring getting closer!

Outdoor-Spring-photos-Virginia-www.timelinedc.com

Driving through Washington DC yesterday, it was clear that even the cherry blossoms have not yet found their Spring stride yet. It is getting closer, and we took some time to enjoy the slightly warmer weather this weekend. Hopefully buds will bloom, and people will be ready for more photos outdoors. I can’t wait!

While walking through this stream the bare trees allow the sky to reflect off the water. Even though winter is behind us, it still gives a cold feel with no leaves on the trees. Despite the current look, it will not take long for the leaves to take over the coverage in a few weeks.

Green Spring Gardens park is indeed one of our favorite local parks. Whereas they have many walking trails, they have planted specific specimens with identifiers throughout. For this reason, we get ideas on what can work in our own yard, so we enjoy visiting often. Also, Fairfax County has some very clear permitting rules in case you are a photographer and have designs on using the park as a backdrop!

Easter 2013

Family-photos-www.timelinedc.com

It was a damp but beautiful Easter Sunday with the family. We had lots of dogs underfoot, lots of food, and Easter egg hunt, and of course, more photos. Hope all of you had a great day with your families as well!

Additionally, we took some time to get some nice posed family photos. As can be seen, the family is growing! Although we are all together here, it will likely be difficult to do as more join us. Then it will be harder to gather with different obligations pulling us in different directions. With this in mind, I encourage everyone to take as many post photos as possible. Without a doubt, they are treasured as the years go by. Happy Easter!

I am editing photos from another ballroom dance event, the River City Ballroom Dance Competition, and I hope to have them up by this upcoming weekend. They will be posted to the regular proofing site with the other photos-

Hopefully Spring stays longer than a day, so if you need any photos outside – let me know! This is the best time for outdoor photos as long as the temperature cooperates. Thank you!
