The photos from the 2020 Spring Freestyles are expiring! We hope everyone has been staying safe since this event. In the light of a lock down that started right after this, we know things have been very different. Still it has been nice to go back to see these images. Before they are archived, you can see the 11,000+ photos here:
To end the weekend events, there was a professional competition. On this occasion there were two different categories in two different styles. Of course there were heats for Smooth and Rhythm dances. Additionally they had heats for mentors dancing with new staff. In this case, newer dance instructors could gain experience preparing, and competing with an experienced dancer. As can be seen in these images, it is hard to tell them apart! After all, they took the extra time to train and prepare! Surely it paid off in some awesome images.
Next Monday, May 4, the 2019 Winter Showcase photos are expiring at TimeLine Media. Thank you to everyone that supported out photography with purchases from this event! We really enjoy seeing them posted on social media – thanks for tagging us in the photos. To view and share the photos, here is the link:
Competition is nice, however, professional shows are my favorite! Now that an professional competition is a more regular occurrence, I appreciate these even more. Comparatively, the crowd is more settled. Similar to a tennis match, they do not want to distract the dancers. However, they still have the same excitement internally. In similar fashion, I sometimes wish my camera shutter was quieter on a gentler show. Given that I still need to get the photos, I forge on. Soon, I get over it since I know you can’t hear the sounds in the still photos later. Without a doubt, I had plenty of candidates for posters from these shows. I made some to display at the recent Spring Freestyles! It’s a great way to illustrate what these studios can do. It also attracts people to join us for the next one!
Overall it was a spooky night for the Fall Fling! The spirit of Halloween was all over the inside and outside of the ballroom. Still that skeleton that greeted guests at the ballroom entrance haunts me!
2019 FADS Fall Fling – Professional Shows
To cap the event, the professionals that danced with students all day put on a show. Partnering with other professionals allows them to demonstrate a higher level for the students in attendance. Giving the dance fans something to shoot for in their dancing is a great way to end this event. I know everyone will be back at the studio to start working for the next one. We hope to see you there!
