The 2017 DC Dance Challenge photos have been released! Similarly, we were at the Westin in Arlington, VA. Previously, we were at the Alexandria Westin, so the ballroom was nice for photos. In order to see the almost 5000 images we made, click this link:
Since we were at a new venue, we setup extra early this morning. Jennifer Bonini is very experience running this event, so she was very helpful getting our booth location. In the same fashion as other events, I photographed along the long side of the ballroom. Overall, I enjoyed the photos! On this occasion we saw many familiar faces. Because this is such a friendly competition for dancers, many come back year after year!
The photos from last weekend’s 2017 Pennsylvania Ballroom Scrimmage are now ready to view at the TimeLine Media proofing site! Although this was not the first photo assignment in Lancaster, it was our first ballroom dance event. Since it was not too far from the metro DC area, we saw a lot of familiar faces from studios close to home. Similarly to other events, we have edited and sorted the photos by gentlemen’s number. Here is the link:
We met organizer, Barbra Snyder, at competitions in the DC Area. When she gave us the opportunity to photograph her event, we jumped at the chance. The Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square is a grand venue for events. Given that this was a large room, we used all the lighting we brought with us! Being connected to the convention center was a bonus. In spite of the sprawling hotel, we were able to setup quickly from the garage. I know all the participants had a great weekend of dancing!
The 2017 Spring Freestyles photos from the DC Area Arthur Murray studios are expiring on Monday. In order to make room on the site for fall events, we needed to move these to the archive. While they are still up, the link to view all the photos is here:
Throughout this weekend, we had a number of fun additions to the regular schedule. During the breaks, we updated some photos to display on the projector in the ballroom. For this purpose, it was better for us to make the photos black and white. This is a huge ballroom! Under those circumstances, it is difficult to clearly see a projected image. Because of this, I converted the photos to monochrome to make them easier to see.
During dinner, there was a quick celebration for Carolina’s birthday! Who would not want an entire ballroom dancers singing to you on your special day? Glad I caught this nice moment during dinner.
Professional Shows
To finish the event, we were treated to seven awesome professional shows. Additionally, we had a very special spotlight to end the event. Seeing that John and Carol Clark are a regular fixture as judges for these events, it was nice to see them dancing! To conclude the event, the organizers had them out to celebrate their anniversary!
