Sunday – Family Day

Hope you enjoyed your Sunday! I have been busy with a lot of photo shoots the passed few days, so I will be in the studio working on them this week. Today was a little rest day before the work week starts tomorrow. Stay tuned to the blog for updates on the progress. There are some really nice images coming soon!

At this time, we went out to visit family in the Virginia farming country. While it is a departure from our suburban area, it is not a long trip. Whereas our neighborhood is stacked with homes, this area has 10-acre home sites keeping everyone a long distance from each other. The quiet on account of the distance is calming.

Also, there are some furry little family members that greet us as soon as we arrive. Since we do not have pets at home, it is a comforting sight and sound as soon as the car stops on this Sunday. Surprisingly, this is also a recharge from photography. The change of scenery allows me to stretch a different part of my photography brain. Thus, I am set to get back to work at the start of the week!

Sunday – Rest Day

Not much rest this last weekend. It was a beautiful funeral and birthday party for Liza yesterday. The gathering of family and friends at the church and my mother’s house to celebrate her life was reflection on Liza and her love of life. She would have loved the party! So much food! So many people from her work and both sides of her family visiting and eating. It was her kind of scene. Only a few substitutions made the celebration different. Instead of dancing, there was a quite time for prayer and remembrance. We hope Liza approved of the arrangements.

Friends and Family

Not dog tired yet, but we will rest and recharge. Towards the end of the day, I was getting too lazy to change to big glass even when there was a bald eagle flying right over head in a perfectly clear sky! But I still tried before regretting it.

That will be an upcoming post for sure – missed photos.

I have more shoot planned in the next couple of weeks. There will be some portraits, action portraits, some shows, and we will get back to dancing at the Arthur Murray Fall Freestyles next month. On the Facebook pages and announcements, the studios are gearing up for the event, and planning the themes for the Potomac Cup team match! I’m sure there will also be some unexpected surprises along the way. This was definitely one from yesterday:

Sunday Break

Red-Dahlia-www.timelinedc.com

Has Spring finally arrived? We were out pulling weeds and getting the garden ready yesterday, so it sure feels very close! It has been a busy week, and today feels like a good day for a break from the usual Sunday. Happy Easter to all that celebrate, and thanks for stopping by the blog! I think I’ll try and make more photos today. Stay tuned to see if I come with anything good.

For this post, I went back to find some recent spring blooms that I have come across. Although it is not usually recommended to crank color sliders in your post processing programs, I could not help it for these. Are they over cooked to you? Overall, red pops in digital images, so it is easy to go overboard with it. However, I could not help it with the dahlia image. Perhaps the bright yellow center is a nice contrast to the surrounding color.

For the daffodils in the flower arrangement, it was not as much the yellow that I boosted, but the blues and greens. This is usually avoided in photos with people as it destroys skin tones. However, I like how all the colors mix together in this frame. Don’t be afraid to push the color!
