Utah

This post continues a trip through the American Southwest with the stop in Bryce Canyon National Park. Until I had seen it for myself, this was not high on my list of places to see. With this in mind, that was the reason we did not budget enough time to explore the area.

Following the Rim Trail, you will come to this panorama at Inspiration Point. At this point, you will be presented with a grand view of the section of the canyon named Bryce Amphitheater. Stretching out is a layered view of hoodoos – irregularly eroded rock formations. Obviously this view really blew me away! Particularly the contrast in other canyons I have visited – Bryce had a different color, and jagged formation as far as you could see. When we were at the top, we could see approaching clouds. So, creating HDR images would bring out a little more interest from the sky. I will definitely be back to visit at either sunrise or sunset – this could have some magical color in that kind of light!

DC Area Arthur Murray studios

The photos from the last weekend’s 2016 Fall Freestyles event from the DC Area Arthur Murray studios are released at the TimeLine Media proofing site! Compared to their last meeting, this was a crowded event in the ballroom. Of course everyone was in the same ballroom this time, but attendance felt higher. This week, we have edited and sorted the photos by studio. With this in mind, please let me know if I made any mistakes! Here is the link:

Full Dance Floor

This time, I had some great help from my photographer friends. It would be impossible for me to cover all the heats all weekend, so I am thankful for the help! Obviously, we would like to thank the studio owners and managers that prepared the dancers for their heats all weekend!

Aeren Waters at Qui Piece

Baltimore, Maryland

Earlier this month, I photographed Aeren Waters at Qui Piece in Baltimore. This shoot marked another progression in Nerea’s fashion career! Previously I have made images of some of her designs. Colorful purses, bags, and accessories are the main products in her line so far. Being that she was also a colleague from the lab branching out into an art business, I am very supportive of her efforts!

On this occasion, she wanted to get some images in front of the Qui Piece store front. Not only will this location now have some of her pieces for sale, but Nerea also teaches some sewing classes here. It was heartening to see her giving back by teaching others to further their skills in fashion!

Although we met in the early afternoon, I still found some good areas for photos. Given that it was overcast for the day, we had some nice even light on her face. I only popped a little fill flash balanced with ambient for a little lift. Best of luck with Nerea for the new store front!
