Last week, I photographed the 2017 First Responders Day on the Plaza at Tysons Corner Center. Similarly to the event last year, many of the same departments attended the event. At this time, there was a nice retro police cruiser from the Fairfax County Police. It was undoubtedly the most popular backdrop for requested photos! From the large police lights on top of the car to the nostalgic model car, I had plenty of opportunities there.
On the garage top next to the Plaza, the Fairfax 1 helicopter planned to land so kids could get up close to the vehicle and the crew. Prior to its arrival, the security team at Tysons let me know a few minutes before it arrived, so I headed up to get in place. In testing my settings before the helicopter arrived, I made some awesome movie-like portraits of the security in place:
Earlier this month, I photographed the Charles Tyrwhitt grand opening at Tysons Corner Center. At this time, a group of executive managers from the UK attended the opening at the start of the shopping day. Following my arrival to the store, I acquainted myself with their setup so I could capture some good images of their initial setup. Being that they are new to brick-and-mortar stores in the USA, I knew these would be important for them. Likewise, this would be a welcome addition to the lineup of stores in Tysons.

On this occasion, I aimed to get very straight-lined photos of the displays. In researching their catalogs they have a very clean look in their layouts. Moreover, this entire store was diligently set up for their first day. The entire team worked to ensure that everything was in place making my job so much easier!
The photos from last March’s 2017 Baltimore Dancesport Challenge are expiring on August 28. This fall, we will be covering more dance events so we need to make room on the server. After that Monday, the photos will be moved to the archive server. Here is the link if you have not seen them yet:
To finish the day of dancing, Slawek Roszak & Denise Sobiewski danced a set of professional shows. This was the first time I have photographed them, and they were excellent! On this occasion they danced a set of Smooth routines that really engaged with the crowd. Along with their Dore Designs costumes, the dress colors were varied for each, and popped nicely. Making a connection with the audience is important for anyone performing. These two definitely made connections, and it seemed she was looking right through the camera lens throughout their routines!
Thanks again for Marielle for inviting us back to her event! Particularly her experience and motivation to have a premier dancesport event in Baltimore was a success. You can see video on the PabonPro YouTube channel. Moreover, The BWI Westin is a beautiful ballroom, and judging by the growing participants year after year shows her efforts are paying off. We appreciate the support from all the dancers that bought digital files and prints from this event. We hope they got to you in good condition, and we look forward to seeing them on social media!
