Last Saturday, we photographed the 2018 DC Dance Challenge.

Although we were at a new venue, the Westin Alexandria, the room was excellent for photos! After all the dancing, we edited and sorted the photos by numbers worn by gentlemen. To see all the photos, here is the link:

Thank you to Jennifer Bonini for having us cover her event again this year! Previously we have photographed the DC Dance Challenge in many other venues in the area. In addition to staff from Forever Dancing ballroom, they ran a smooth event. Eventually, we will get a list of the award winners from this event. For instance, Top Bronze Student, Top Studio, etc. Then I will make some nice plaques labeled with the awards and one of their images. Be on the lookout for those soon!

50 Years – Tysons

Tysons Corner Center

This summer was a celebration of 50 Years since the opening of Tysons Corner Center. In order to mark the occasion, the marketing team at the mall asked me to participate in an art project with Pindar Van Arman. To demonstrate the high – technology aspect of modern Tysons, Pindar programmed robots to paint photos of the Tysons area. With this in mind, the robots need a photograph as a base for the paintings, so I worked to get new images of the area. As a starting point, Pindar and I went to the Fairfax library image archive to find photos of the area from the 1960s that we could use as a reference. From these, we create new photos of the same areas, then the robots painted both for the project, Tysons Then and Now. I think it was a success, and you can still see the results hanging in the mall!

Tysons Corner Center

It has been a couple of months, but I wanted to get the photos from the 2018 Washington Nationals Clinic at the Bullpen on the blog. Last year a similar group of little league players came to run through drills. Additionally, there were some VIPs attending from the team, running presidents George and Teddy! Even though they could almost touch the ceiling down there, they also participated in the drills. Coaches from the Nationals Youth Baseball Academy worked through a series of drills. In case you were not familiar, the Bullpen is a completely decked out facility for baseball. Despite the netting, you still need to keep your head (and your camera) on a swivel as these kids can really swing the bat! Afterwards, the presidents and some of the players went up to the Plaza where you had the opportunity to ride the Bullpen cart!
