Monument Valley

Utah and Arizona

Continuing a series of posts from a trip to the Southwest United States, this is from a stop in Monument Valley, UT. Without a doubt, this was one place I knew was going to be a bucket-list place to make photos. Being that it is in so many movies, it is almost instantly recognizable as the American West. The initial photo is from John Ford Point named for the director of many movies in the Westerns genre. This was above all the most tourist-y place in the park, but having a rider on a horse in that setting is worthy of a cliche image.

From a photography perspective, there is a pleasing combination of colors here. On one hand the clear blue skies complements the red sands of the rock. With the dry desert air, there is no haze to contend with making all the images sharp right out of camera.

2016 Summer Showcase photos Expiring

Next Monday, the photos from the 2016 Summer Showcase are expiring at the TimeLine Media proofing site. Shortly, we will need the space on the server for more dance events this fall. Professional Shows

On this occasion, the McLean Hilton in Tysons, VA was decorated in a Country Western theme. Of course this fit in well with the Western dance routines. Moreover, the professional shows tied in the theme as well! To illustrate, here are some photos with the costumes, and the sets that decorated to tie in to the theme.

Overall, the routines were a lot of fun! Not to mention the mix of group formations and single couples dancing made for a nice combination. Also, the backgrounds that climbed to the ceiling completed the look!

Staff Shows

Marielle really puts a very nice show together for their Showcases. Once you attend and see the thought put into their themes, you will be impressed! For one thing, this is something that will have to be planned for very early. Especially those doing dance routines need to have costumes and music that fit the theme. Of course the staff helps students pull that off, then they work on staff shows that do the same. In like fashion, they use the staff shows to tie in the theme as well as giving the students something to work towards. To illustrate what is possible with their dancing at the studio, they give students new goals for their next showcase. Because December will come quickly, it will not be long before they are back practicing and learning. See you at the next one!
