Student Routines

This time, they had a beautiful holiday-theme red curtain as a background. At first I was not sure if this would work for the photos. Given that is becomes much brighter in my strobe flashes, I thought it would be too similar to the dancers. However, I think it worked nicely!

Overall, red is a color that pops from digital camera sensors. Although that is usually a good thing, I was worried it would overwhelm here. However, I think it worked very well! Being that it was the holidays, the red fit the event theme, and it was a complimentary background to many of the dresses. Thanks to Marielle and Carlos for inviting us this year!

Whenever you see students and teacher dance well, they have a look of accomplishment on both sides. To say nothing of the work that they put in to create and practice a routine repeatedly in the studio. Pulling off what they worked for the audience is very satisfying. Obviously, this makes for nice photos as they settle into the routine and hit all their marks.

Hilton McLean

Another event for the DC Area studios was held at the Hilton McLean. When we arrive the staff at this hotel is very accommodating to the vendors. Obviously we need electricity, tables, and chairs, and we were quick to get setup for this one-day event.

2015 Summer Showcase Expiring

From last summer, the 2015 Summer Showcase Expiring at the TimeLine Media proofing site. Given that this was only one day, we were thankful that so many shared and purchased photos from this event! Below is the link:

International Dance Extravaganza

On this occasion, the performances from the Arthur Murray professionals were based on a theme. Staff shows were all international dances. Moreover three of them were group formations.

The costumes worn during these shows also emphasized the theme. Besides the excellent dancing, the colorful fashion that sometime departed from traditional dance wear added interest. Further, the group routines added an extra element for the audience to follow.

Photography wise, I had to switch between cameras to cover these. On one hand, I had a body with a wide angle lens to cover the group formations. Unlike routines with only couples, I need to cover almost the entire floor!
