Earlier this month, business coach Laurie Richards contacted me to do a 2018 Brand Session at The Winery at Bull Run. Previously, Laurie came to the studio for updated headshots. Afterwards, she decided that one of the images would be on the cover of her latest book! In short, I was very happy that she enjoyed the photos from her last session.

During this afternoon, we met at the winery to start making some photos around their property. In this case, the setting was beautiful for portraits. The open fields next to the Civil War era buildings made for non-distracting backgrounds that did add some interest for the portraits.

Since it was close to the winery, we made our way to the park at the Manassas Battlefield. In like fashion, the historic open fields were a beautiful backdrop for branding photos. With her blue top, it complimented all the green in the surrounding frame.

I was contacted by a referral from the Tysons Chamber to NetStrategies who needed to make new Trimark Headshots for a website update. On this occasion, the entire staff in the office was due for a refresh. With this in mind, it was easier for me to being a mobile lighting setup to their location for the day. Since there would be multiple people, I had Mary R. accompany me to do make up touch ups throughout the day.

Given that this was my first time going to this location, I arrived early for the session to set up. Comparatively, they had a roomy conference room where I could set up the lighting. Together with a seamless white paper background, the photography for the portraits was nice and clean for their website refresh. Overall, I was welcomed by the staff at the Trimark office. They were very helpful in getting us situated so that the task of getting everyone done was smooth. Since I send the photos right to the computer, it was possible for everyone to approve their headshot before they left the studio! I think the headshots along with the new NetStrategies website worked very well together.

Studio Session

Earlier this year, I brought my lighting kit to Studio Arto for a 2017 Maryland Headshots session with some clients. From time to time it is inconvenient for clients to come to Virginia for their studio sessions. So as to accommodate, I found this Studio in Rockville, MD that worked nicely! Although I have my own set, this studio included the lights in the rental fee.

At this time, I had to familiarize myself with the set up in the studio. Prior to my current brand of lights, I had the same Hensel lights that they had set up in the studio. With one light hanging from the ceiling, it was easy to change the background as can be seen in the photos. Comparatively, you can have the gray wall above, or the white below depending on what look you are going for. On one hand, the middle gray can be a little ‘warmer’ looking. But the white background is very clean, and easy to cut out the background if you would like the transparency to use in graphic design documents.
