DC Area Arthur Murray Fall Freestyles photos released on the proofing website! On Friday, the upload of the photos was completed, and the images were able to be viewed. I tried to organize each of the dancers by the studio that they attend, but if I made a mistake, please send me an email – Rassi @ timelinedc.com or give me a call, and I’ll be sure to correct it right away.

Professional Shows

For the email blast and the other announcements for the release of the photos, I started with images from the first Professional Show that closed out the weekend of dancing. The show was an awesome Cha Cha by the Arthur Murray – Ashburn, VA studio. It was the first time we have seen these two do a pro show, and we were impressed! Being the first out, they really got the audience off their feet when they were done. Their music selection was “Beggin’” by Madcon, a favorite at the studios, but a selection that sounds incredible played loudly.

Sometimes it takes a little while to get the settings for the lights correctly, but luckily, I had a little time when all the lights were turned back on from the social dancing for the shows. I want to say thanks also to the Silver Spring studios that allowed me a nice space up front to see the shows, and this was a perfect spot! I had a great perspective for this Cha Cha – the back lights were not too distracting from the dancers, and the timing for when some lights did not fire was VERY lucky for me!

This show is also the basis that I have for the upcoming poster contest. I will have another one before the Fall Showcase, and this will be the prototype for the new poster designs. Stay tuned to the blog updates on when those new posters will be ready to view. I hope they turn out well!

Arthur Murray – Ashburn, VA Spring Freestyles Show

It has been a few weeks now since the 2014 Arthur Murray Spring Freestyles. After all the work to edit, sort the files, and get orders out to everyone, I finally have some time to look back on this event. There were many great dancers and photos we made that weekend. This is the longest break between Arthur Murray events that we cover. So we try to prepare as best we can for the event. There are always new attendees that we want to make a good first impression, so we have some of our best photographers to help, and we have all our gear cleaned and ready to go from the start! From this first post, I have selected photos from the first professional show that closed out the event – a Cha Cha by the Ashburn, Virginia studio!

Being the first of the professional shows that performed for the evening is a neat spot! The crowd is still settling down from the last general dance, and with no previous performance, the audience has a fresh palette. The song was “Come Dance with Me” by Michael Buble. These two had a lot of success in getting the audience pumped up with some awesome dancing! You can catch a video of the performance here:

If you look closely, you can see me hunched in some of the frames as I tried to keep up! A lot of people ask why I shoot from down low. Really, this is the best angle to capture any subject that you want to make larger, more heroic in the photo. From down here, it is much easier to compose a frame where they look larger than life! You would think that it would have a strange perspective, but with a lot of distance between me and the dancers, that angle is minimized, and you can hardly tell that I was as low to the ground with my camera!
