Last month, there were two 2016 Spring Fashion shows at Tysons Corner Center. Similar to previous ones, the Lord and Taylor location supplied the clothing for models. Directly in front of their location, a runway was setup. In addition, they had a branded step and repeat at one end of the carpet.
Again for this show, I set up one large flash at the end of the runway. Seeing that the models walk quickly down the long walkway, I needed to carefully select when to flip the shutter. The recycle time of the flashes was slower by comparison to brighter ambient areas. Although the amount I shot was lower than usual, I had a high number of keepers. Sometimes it helps to be limited by gear!
Last February I covered the 2016 lunar new year celebration at Tysons Corner Center. On this occasion, they had the festivities in the Concourse. Being that it is adjacent to the Plaza, there was a lot of traffic during the event! Colorful decorations adorned the tables leading out to the Plaza.
2016 Lunar New Year – Monkey
Because of the loud drumming, the dancing dragons brings a lot of attention to the celebration. Simultaneously the dancers move frantically throughout the crowd. Surely this is an interactive show! For this reason, reactions are as important as the movement.
As the crowds grew larger, martial artists performed a show. Some where the same performers from last year. They progress and make their presentation faster and sharper! Anyone that came by will remember the start of the year of the Monkey.
Happy 2016! During some time off for the holidays, I am blogging about some events from last year. September was the celebration of the Peterson Companies 50 year anniversary. As long as I have lived in northern Virginia, I have lived near, shopped at, or worked in a property created by them. Joanna from Peterson’s marketing has had my cover corporate events, property openings, and some other work at their centers. Thus, I was honored to cover this special event for them.
Peterson Companies anniversary
Being that their company has stayed in business for 50 years is an amazing accomplishment. Moreover, they have impacted the DC metro area with their projects transforming the development of the entire region. On this occasion it was an honor to photograph the founder, Milt Peterson who spoke to all the guests. Afterwards, the buffet from Silver Spoon Caterers was opened! Luckily the weather cooperated, and they had a beautiful evening at their headquarters for an event. Because of the good weather, the lawn games were very popular. Additionally, golf balls were driven into the lake! Although this was a company party, many coworkers seemed like family. Undoubtedly this contributes to their continued success.
