June Saturdays

©TimeLine Media - wedding photography

It’s just that time of year. For wedding photographers especially, their Saturdays are full in the middle of their busy season! There is nothing like have a wedding in June. I have photographed and assisted in photographing several weddings in the DC Area. At this time, the city landmarks will be dotted with brides and grooms. While they are out a photographer is directing them to pose, and look. The photographer is attempting to make some nice photos while trying to minimize the tourists in the background. Given that this is such a photogenic city they have made a great choice of location!

Wedding Photography

It is nice to be part of their big day, and a responsibility that I took for granted before being the person behind the camera. These are the photos that are looked at by multiple generations. In that case, these photos are the first family heirloom. Additionally, these are the items that are sought after when natural disasters take other material possessions. They will survive long after the flowers and cake. These thoughts keep me sharp throughout the day, and humble me every time someone asks me to photograph their wedding.

Washington, DC venues

This has been a busy week of shoots for me. I have been assisting on some events, and shooting some of my own. While assisting, I always learn new things in order to be successful as a photographer. Luck has been on my side to find great photographers in the area that like my work enough to have me shoot along with them. With  some assignments this week, I have been to some of the nicest venues in the area. Washington, DC, being a city of decision making power, is the site of many conferences, events, and weddings. I have taken for granted so many of the things around here being a native of the area. So it has been nice to appreciate the opportunity to photograph many familiar landmarks from new angles. If it was only nicer weather this weekend, I may have been inspired to go out again. Oh, and I have to visit my mother.

Next door to the Hay Adams are other buildings with terrific views of the White House. There were lots of cameras and tents for television production setup permanently, but I did not see anyone broadcasting at the time. Now I know where all those “Reporting from Washington” views are filmed! I would be so distracted all the time if my outdoor view was Lafayette Park, the White House and the Washington Monument.

Arthur Murray – Columbia

©TimeLine Media - Arthur Murray Columbia

These photos were from the recent Arthur Murray Spring Freestyles event in McLean, VA. At this time they feature the instructors and students from the Columbia, Maryland studio. Their professionals have been featured in many of my displayed photos. As can be seen they have performed professional showcases and competitions that I have saved over the years. It is the best way to finish off these events by watching the pros do what they do best. With an audience full of dancers, they need to bring their best – which they do every single time. So much fun to make pictures of them!

To be sure, these dance events take a lot of time to finish. However, I am left with a lot of images for content on the blog! Given that the Arthur Murray studios have been a consistent client base, I am very grateful. I am preparing for more weekday shoots this week. Unlike the weekend events, these will likely be less frantic. So it’s just a quick one for today. Enjoy!
