Spring Freestyles editing

The photos are coming along nicely from last weekend’s Spring Freestyles. I am still editing and am coming across some cool images! There are some new things that I have not seen or noticed in ballroom dance photos previously. I’ll write about it more in a future blog post, but for now, I must get back to Lightroom! Spring Freestyles Event

Now that I am home from the event, I am thankful for the help last weekend! To cover these is a big job requiring a lot of stamina from photographers. Although it can be one of the best assignments with all of the great music, and the enthusiastic energy in the ballroom. Have you ever attended these events previously? I would like to receive some feedback on my photos and how they capture the event. Obviously I think they do capture the dancing well, but does it relate to a larger audience at all? Since I am embedded in all of these, I don’t know how they would come off to someone that was not there. Or to someone that is unfamiliar with the dance scene in our area.

Spring Freestyles photo editing continuing

The photos from last weekend’s Spring Freestyles are looking good! I am still at the editing stage, and still hope to have them up by Saturday. If there are any delays from putting them on the website, I will let you know here on the blog, or on the Facebook page. Here are a few favorites from Friday, as I came across them. Enjoy!

Similarly to other Freestyles, the ballroom was filled with so much energy! Although some of it was nervous, much of it was encouraging energy being sent to the dancers on the floor. Particularly, studio mates helping to push their friends to get out of their heads and have fun while they have the floor. As can be seen, it really helps to get smiles while they are working through butterflies, and executing their figures. Whenever you get out there, it is almost impossible to dance as well as you did at the studio. However, it makes the experience worth if when you get out there at Freestyles!

Top Teachers – Arthur Murray Spring Freestyles

This post has all the Top Teachers from the Spring Freestyles event. I have started looking through the photos from Friday and Saturday. We have thousands of them! Because there are so many, and we know you want to find your photos quickly, we will edit the photos and sort them by studio before posting them to the website. I will post some updates to the blog and the Facebook page so you will know the progress of the photos. Thanks to the DC Area Arthur Murray dance studios for having us cover another one of their successful events. Overall they always step up with the hotel, decorations, Potomac Cup Team Match, and Professional Shows. Contact them for information for the next event, the Summer Showcase coming up June 22, 2013. Again that event will be held at the McLean Hilton in Tysons Corner, VA. Following are the photos of the Top Teachers from each studio. As can be seen, there were some proud staff from these studios!
