Events expiring today

New Jersey State Open

Please note about events expiring today! The 2012 New Jersey State Open and the 2012 Paragon Open photos will be expiring from the proofing website. At this time the photos will be removed from viewing today. Afterwards they will placed into the archive. You will be able to still access the photos, but it is a $30 charge to retrieve the files, and re-upload them to the website. There were some great photos from this event, so if you want to have any prints or digital downloads, please visit the website today!

Here are some photos from the 2012 New Jersey State Open held on this occasion at the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City, NJ. Their website is currently being updated, but this year’s event is scheduled to be October 24-27, 2013. We plan to be their official photographer again this year, and hope to see all of you there!

Paragon Open

Here are some of my favorites from the Paragon Open held in Whippany, NJ. For this time, I had an associate photographer, Mario, cover this event for us, and he did a great job! Of course I wish I could shoot every event but it is nice to be friends with other professionals that can cover for me. I’m especially glad that many of you purchased copies of your favorites to keep. We hope to be invited back again this year. Enjoy!

American Star Ball

Today I am posting more ballroom dance photos from the American Star Ball held in Atlantic City, NJ. This year’s event will be May 17 – 19, 2013 at the Golden Nugget. We are planning to be there again this year!

Additionally, to looking to see some awesome dancing, we are excited to be working with the organizers. Since we have been photographing these competitions for a while, we have interacted a few times with Amanda and Ilya Reyzin. When they attend competitions, they are always popular personalities.

Even though they are champions of the highest level, they impress their students with their passion for dance. In addition, they are popular judges due to their reputation and artistic prowess on the floor. Now, they are the organizers of this competition. When this was announced last year, they asked if we were interested in continuing the partnership as photography vendors. Of course, we were humbled by the request. Being that they are recent competitors, and plugged into the community, I am sure they have a lot of ideas for updating the competition. We look forward to seeing the updates. Let us know if you plan to be there too!

American Star Ball

On this occasion, I wanted to post more of my favorite ballroom dancing photos. These were at the American Star Ball held at the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City, NJ. Comparatively, this is a beautiful ballroom for dancing. In fact, this is likely the longest ballroom that I cover. With this in mind, you can really separate the dancers from the background.

Additionally, this room has a tall ceiling. Similarly to the aspects of the long room, a tall ceiling will also blur a background when the dancers are closer to my position. As can be seen in the photo above, the ceiling elements are nicely blurred. The theater lighting, the chandeliers, and the cloth added to the ceiling do not distract from the dancer forms.

While working on updating my marketing materials, this photo above was chosen to be printed. Being that this is the American Star Ball, the predominant Red, and Blue tones in the dresses matched appropriately. This year’s event will be May 17 – 19, 2013.
