Reston, Virginia

Last year, I did a Virid Office Shoot in Reston, Virginia. The Fairfax County Economic Development Authority wanted some updated images of real office spaces. In this case, their top floor office space was an open and contemporary setting for the modern workplace.

Whereas their office entrance is a clean, cement-floored minimalist space, their work area is much more warm. Although it is an open area with no walls between workstations, everyone customized their area with personal decorations. From a photography standpoint, this a nice contrast with their entrance areas. At this time, I used some off camera flashes to bring the faces out from the background. Using this technique also allowed the balance of the monitor light to equal the window light so nothing was overexposed.

Finally, I want to thank the employees from Virid that volunteered for the shoot. Having a photographer around for part of the day had to be distracting, but they had some fun with the shoot. Also, thanks to the FCEDA for assisting in the coordination for the shoot and guiding the setups. I look forward to the next one!

Late last year, I photographed at the corporate headquarters for Favor TechConsulting in Tysons. In this case the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority wanted to get some images of an office space in the County with employees at work. Since this was a real office with other working nearby, there were some challenges in doing this shoot. While I usually like to keep things light and loose while working, I did not want to disturb others that were in the middle of their work day.

During this shoot, the employees of FTC that volunteered to be a part of the shoot were enthusiastic models! Surely being on their home turf helped them to be relaxed as we moved from room to room at their headquarters. Additionally they were patient as I scanned each room, set up the lighting, and set up each image. Hopefully the FCEDA marketing team will find a good use for these new images! I thank them for their assistance to ensure we made the best images that they needed.

I was contacted by a referral from the Tysons Chamber to NetStrategies who needed to make new Trimark Headshots for a website update. On this occasion, the entire staff in the office was due for a refresh. With this in mind, it was easier for me to being a mobile lighting setup to their location for the day. Since there would be multiple people, I had Mary R. accompany me to do make up touch ups throughout the day.

Given that this was my first time going to this location, I arrived early for the session to set up. Comparatively, they had a roomy conference room where I could set up the lighting. Together with a seamless white paper background, the photography for the portraits was nice and clean for their website refresh. Overall, I was welcomed by the staff at the Trimark office. They were very helpful in getting us situated so that the task of getting everyone done was smooth. Since I send the photos right to the computer, it was possible for everyone to approve their headshot before they left the studio! I think the headshots along with the new NetStrategies website worked very well together.
