Photos from last weekend’s That’s Dancing 2016 Summer Showcase have been released at the TimeLine Media proofing site! This was the most crowded I can remember for their in-studio showcase. Where as there is usually plenty of space for my lights by the videographer cameras, we were up against this wall this time!

Student Routines

Marielle and Carlos filled their studio for this showcase! This time, they had a Disney theme carried throughout the evening. Since I am a big ‘Star Wars’ fan that is part of the Disney umbrella, I connected with these the most. To illustrate these movies in dance was very creative!

Thanks to all the dancers and the staff of That’s Dancing Ballroom in Jessup. Following their showcase, I know they like to redecorate their studios with photos. To be sure, these would look nice on their walls. The sparkly gold background really ties all of these together!

Similarly to the student showcase routines, the staff incorporated the ‘Fire and Ice’ theme of the evening. Indeed, just looking at the photos of the professionals, we can see the energy from their feet all the way through the tips of their fingers! In addition to the solid dance foundation, these flourishes help to complete the dance forms. With attention to these details, the dancers in the audience had something to bring to their next lesson.

Student Routines

This time, they had a beautiful holiday-theme red curtain as a background. At first I was not sure if this would work for the photos. Given that is becomes much brighter in my strobe flashes, I thought it would be too similar to the dancers. However, I think it worked nicely!

Overall, red is a color that pops from digital camera sensors. Although that is usually a good thing, I was worried it would overwhelm here. However, I think it worked very well! Being that it was the holidays, the red fit the event theme, and it was a complimentary background to many of the dresses. Thanks to Marielle and Carlos for inviting us this year!
