American Star Ball Expires Today | Dance Photography

Today, the American Star Ball photos expire at the proofing site! It was a busy photography weekend for TimeLine Media! We had photographers all over the area the last three days, and we had lots of challenges. At this time, we had weather, computer, car trouble, and everything under the sun that we encountered. Firstly, I want to thank all the photographers that helped me to get the images that clients need. Now I have lots of editing to do, but it is ALL GOOD! Certainly, I am working right now to make sure I can get everything that we made out there for you to see. It may take me a little while, but the images will come soon – I promise!

At this time, the photos from the 2014 American Star Ball Championships expire today at the proofing site. There has been another rush of orders the last week as I sent reminders to the email list that they expire soon, and I have sent all of them out to you. After tonight, the photos will no longer be viewable as they are moved to the archive:

The competition was full of great dancing from start to finish! We made some awesome images of amateurs, professionals, and the special shows on each night. It made for a great variety from just the standard competitive heats, and broke up the event nicely. I know that the organizers are already hard at work for next year’s event, and that they are not planning to rest on their success from the last 2 years. We hope to be invited back, and to see you out there on the dance floor!

Updated portrait | Virginia Photographer

Happy Thursday! It’s my 38th birthday today, and time to update my portrait. Thanks for the all the messages on social media – it is really nice to have them stream in! it is one of the best things about the new technology. It is a great excuse to hear from people that you have not seen or talked to in a while. You can reminisce again about birthdays past and make plans for future celebrations! In addition to all the messages, I set up my camera to make a new self-portrait with some lighting.

My 25th birthday was marked by a day of national tragedy. We felt it here in the DC area, and the memory of the events will always be felt when the date comes around every year. The solemnness of ceremonies and memorials on TV and across the Internet lets me also be reflective on my own events. I can take things in; reflect on a milestone day along with everyone else, as a tribute to those that were taken that day, and to be thankful for another year.  It will be back tomorrow, but it’s nice to have a break from the norm. It is nice that so many do the same on your birthday, even if it borne out of sadness.

Foxtrot Professional Show | Dance Photographer

Runaway winners of the poster contest was this image from the Arthur Murray – Ashburn, VA studio:

Arthur Murray Posters

It received close to 60 votes at the TimeLine Media Facebook page! It was great to see so many people sharing and liking the photo. I confess that was one of my favorite posters too. It was a fun show, and the dancers did a beautiful job with the performance. In addition, my eyes really like the light green color splash from her dress, and his tie. Matching their color to the title for the poster really made it pop out from the rest for me.

The Foxtrot is always one of the smoothest of the smooth dances. The two of them display this walking feel in the images. Their knees are bent, with them staying low through the dance. It easy to differentiate these images from the Tango with its harder, straightened knees, and obvious holds in movement. These two really made the dance look like it flowed from one part of the floor to the next even out of the dip in the poster! To see all the photos from this show, they are still available at the proofing website:

Just as with all the staff members in the posters, these shows were performed after a full day of dancing with their students! They will gather again this weekend to do more at the Fall Freestyles. I will definitely have more photos to share with you on the blog after then. If you have any suggestions as to what to do for the next round of posters, let me know! I have a few ideas, but nothing is set yet. It may depend on how the shows and photos from those turn out. Thanks again to the Arthur Murray studios of the DC Area for having us cover their events again this year!
