Last week, I photographed the newest TEDxTysons salon event – Casting a Wider <Dot> Net. On this occasion, the venue was spot on for talks around technology and the impact it is having today. The Booz Allen Hamilton headquarters is in the middle of the growing Tysons, Virginia neighborhood – the Boro. Also it is impossible to miss the high technology companies in the surrounding office buildings.

Speakers

The technology expo was setup in the auditorium reception area when guests started to arrive. It set the scene for discussions on developments that may be part of daily life sooner or later. In contrast, the talks went in depth to higher level thoughts on technology and its impact or our life today.

In order to capture the photos, I had to stretch my stealthy skills. In fact this venue may have the lowest noise floor of any TEDxTysons event so far! Please check out their website for all the photos and to hear the talks.

The photos from last weekend’s 2018 Baltimore Dancesport Challenge have been released at the TimeLine Media proofing site. This was the 10th anniversary of this fun competition! We caught up with many familiar friends over the weekend. Some we see at other events, and some we only see at this event. Of course That’s Dancing Ballroom had a large representation here. Carlos was on the floor for most of the day!

Also, there were some solo routines presented. In addition to showing dance skills, these had added artistry to the presentation. Choreography is matched to music. At the same time the movement conveys the music for the audience. Besides having control of the music, they have command of the floor as well!

The photos from the 2018 Spring Freestyles have been released! The DC Area Arthur Murray event from last weekend is now ready to view. Finally we have finished editing and sorting the 9300+ photos from the weekend:

Please share the link with anyone that attended. Seeing that we had plenty of photos from all the studios, I think this was a nice collection. Indeed we tried to sort everyone by studio. However, there may be some mistakes in there. Please let me know and I’ll correct them asap!

Like the previous Fall Freestyles, we filled the large ballroom at the Hilton McLean in Tysons. On this occasion students danced the Smooth heats on Friday. Following that, they danced Rhythm heats on Saturday morning to the afternoon. Saturday evening brought the Club One Dance competition back. As can be seen in some of the photos, these were popular! In contrast to the syllabus heats, the dancers cut loose a little more – all in good fun.
