Tysons Corner Center

Earlier in the season, I photographed the 2019 Yappy Hour at the Santa HQ set at Tysons Corner Center. Previously, there has not been a chance to bring your pets in for photos. On this occasion, it was fun to see the dogs and their reactions to the Santa HQ set. Not only are there a lot of sounds, and noises, but I am sure the smells of the season really got them excited. Given that some children take a couple of years to get comfortable visiting with Santa, it was not a surprise to see all the hesitation from the dogs. Seeing Santa handle them with the same gentleness as a newborn, he got them all to sit for a few photos. Compared to some babies, the dogs were a little easier to wrangle for the camera! There will be a lot more new fur baby photos by the Christmas stockings this year.

Tysons Corner Center

Earlier this month I photographed the Snappy Hour and Wounded Warrior Project event at the Santa HQ in Tysons Corner Center. The evening following the opening ceremony of the set was reserved for the Wounded Warrior Project. Having this time specified for injured veterans and their families was very accommodating so they could spend some time in the set without a crowd waiting in line for them.

Snappy Hour

Another event that week was the Snappy Hour held at the Santa HQ set. In contrast to the kids that are usually the visitors, this event focused on adults looking to network with drinks and eats from Earl’s. Furthermore with Santa hanging around, it was perfect for ‘snapping’ some Instagrams!

Nat Geo Kids Club – Petting Zoo at Tysons Corner Center

Well this was one of the cutest photo shoots I have ever covered. The National Geographic Kids Club had a petting zoo visit Tysons Corner Center. To say it was a big hit is an understatement! The small animals from Squeals on Wheels were quite the attraction for everyone visiting the mall. There were kids of all ages that wanted to line up and pet the rabbits, chicks, and piglets.

John and Jill the co-owners of Squeals on Wheels gave an orientation to everyone visiting about how to get up close to the animals. They encouraged everyone to greet and touch the animals – “It’s not a looking zoo, it’s a petting zoo!”

The line to come into the zoo was full the entire time they were open. The amount of people that could see the animals at one time was nicely controlled so that everyone had plenty of time and space to visit. It kept the animals calm as well so they did not have to entertain too many at one time!

Not only were there animals, but there was also talented Face painters and balloon makers. Parents and kids had a great time at the club this afternoon, and I am sure they will be back for more events this year. Go to their website for more information, and I’ll see you at the next one!
