DC Area Arthur Murray Fall Freestyles photos released on the proofing website! On Friday, the upload of the photos was completed, and the images were able to be viewed. I tried to organize each of the dancers by the studio that they attend, but if I made a mistake, please send me an email – Rassi @ timelinedc.com or give me a call, and I’ll be sure to correct it right away.

Professional Shows

For the email blast and the other announcements for the release of the photos, I started with images from the first Professional Show that closed out the weekend of dancing. The show was an awesome Cha Cha by the Arthur Murray – Ashburn, VA studio. It was the first time we have seen these two do a pro show, and we were impressed! Being the first out, they really got the audience off their feet when they were done. Their music selection was “Beggin’” by Madcon, a favorite at the studios, but a selection that sounds incredible played loudly.

Sometimes it takes a little while to get the settings for the lights correctly, but luckily, I had a little time when all the lights were turned back on from the social dancing for the shows. I want to say thanks also to the Silver Spring studios that allowed me a nice space up front to see the shows, and this was a perfect spot! I had a great perspective for this Cha Cha – the back lights were not too distracting from the dancers, and the timing for when some lights did not fire was VERY lucky for me!

This show is also the basis that I have for the upcoming poster contest. I will have another one before the Fall Showcase, and this will be the prototype for the new poster designs. Stay tuned to the blog updates on when those new posters will be ready to view. I hope they turn out well!

Arthur Murray Posters

It received close to 60 votes at the TimeLine Media Facebook page! It was great to see so many people sharing and liking the photo. I confess that was one of my favorite posters too. It was a fun show, and the dancers did a beautiful job with the performance. In addition, my eyes really like the light green color splash from her dress, and his tie. Matching their color to the title for the poster really made it pop out from the rest for me.

The Foxtrot is always one of the smoothest of the smooth dances. The two of them display this walking feel in the images. Their knees are bent, with them staying low through the dance. It easy to differentiate these images from the Tango with its harder, straightened knees, and obvious holds in movement. These two really made the dance look like it flowed from one part of the floor to the next even out of the dip in the poster! Just as with all the staff members in the posters, these shows were performed after a full day of dancing with their students! They will gather again this weekend to do more at the Fall Freestyles. I will definitely have more photos to share with you on the blog after then. If you have any suggestions as to what to do for the next round of posters, let me know! I have a few ideas, but nothing is set yet. It may depend on how the shows and photos from those turn out. Thanks again to the Arthur Murray studios of the DC Area for having us cover their events again this year!

Swing Professional Show – Arthur Murray | Ballroom Dance Photographer

Tysons, Virginia

It’s Freestyles week! The final preparations are underway for the DC Area Arthur Murray Fall Freestyles. We are getting the gear, and photos ready for this Friday where we will be at the McLean Hilton in Tysons Corner, VA. We are in for a great 2 days of dancing, and I know that the studios have been busy getting everyone ready. Today is the last day to vote for the posters that we will display at the event. There is a runaway vote-getter from the Ashburn studio, but there is still time to vote for others that we will display as space allows. You can go to the TimeLine Media Facebook page to vote by Liking your favorites:

Professional Staff Show

On this occasion, these photos are from an energetic, fun Triple Swing show by staff members from two different studios. It does not happen as often, but it is awesome to see the staff sharing their resources and putting combinations together for these. We have seen some great partnerships not only for shows, but for competition by having the staff cross over, and these two matched very well.

Swing dancing is popular not just in the ballroom world, but in social dancing. When you start to formally take dance lessons, this is usually one of the first dances that really gives you confidence as you start to learn figures. It is easier to feel the music, the steps are not as strict, and even the faces on people dancing loosen up a lot more in the Swing as can be seen!

This exhibition takes the Swing to another level. These two are very fast, and have some daring moves thrown in for good measure. I had a great time trying to keep up with all of the movements on the floor, and this resulted in a lot of images to choose from for their poster! Thanks to the Arthur Murray Chevy Chase, MD and Arthur Murray Ashburn, VA studios!
