Tysons Tower Club

Last week, I photographed the 2017 Legislative Breakfast produced by the Tysons Chamber at the Tower Club. Since the Virginia legislative session has ended, the panel and speakers gave updates on the bills and budgets passed. Especially for this crowd, the ones that impacted businesses in Fairfax and Tysons were the focus.

Since I was not very familiar with how these sessions worked, I appreciated the overview. Not only did they tell of some of their plans for the future, the panelists encouraged participation. On this occasion there was time to get in front of VIPs in attendance. Dr. Gerry Gordon from the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority was the moderator for the event. Supervisor John Foust, State Senator Janet Howell, Congressman Gerry Connolly, and State Delegate Mark Keam spoke on a panel. Undoubtedly this kind of representation is important for the Chamber. Having this caliber of speakers as a result allows business owners in Tysons some access to our most powerful policy makers.

Tysons Tower Club

The Tysons Chamber held their 2017 Board Installation event last month at the Tower Club. Similarly to their mixer, board members and supporters went to the Tower Club. Peg McDermott, the Chair of the Tysons Chamber will lead the group in 2017.

Although there is a lot happening in state and federal politics, some VIPs found time to attend. Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring spoke at the event. He gave a perspective of the statewide economy. Congressman Gerry Connolly sent a representative. Alex read the proclamation about the Tysons Chamber entered into the Capitol Hill record. After Peg spoke to energize the members, a short swearing-in ceremony was performed.

Afterwards, there was plenty of time for networking. While it may be true that this is a growing Chamber, the surrounding area is well developed. In networking after the event, the energy was tangible. On one hand the Chamber is poised to grow. On the other hand, growing the reach of the Chamber is a priority.

Of course the large events at the Tower Club were not the only ones on the calendar. Business Growth Workshops are a monthly occurrence. So I attended one from Impact Business Solutions. So far as I can see, joining the Tysons Chamber has been a good decision!

Tysons, Virginia

These are the last events that I covered of Santa at Tysons Corner Center. As I have noted previously, the 2016 Santa Breakfast is one of the most attended events during the holidays. Not only do you get a nice breakfast, but you get to see Santa and the Funny Little People perform too!

Washington, DC – 94.7 Fresh FM

Another morning, I got up early to photograph Santa on a field trip! We drove from Tysons to Southwest DC to the studios of 94.7 Fresh FM. Since the Tommy Show visited the Santa HQ set for many events, this time we went to their studios. Broadcasting across the region, Santa took questions from kids and parents for Christmas. Also, he played some games with the in-studio audience, and took lots of photos. Surely his performance solidified his stardom as the man to visit during the holidays!
