Last fall, I photographed the 70 Year Celebration for the Carl M. Freeman Companies. Since I had not been to this venue before, I arrived very early for the event. Tusculum Farm in Laytonsville, Maryland was where the employees and their families met for the celebration. This was a particularly beautiful setting for an outside celebration. Again, I was thankful for the referral from current clients for new work!
As the day progressed, there were so many activities for guests to do. There was plenty of food and drink to sample from barbecue to beer trucks. Additionally, there was a cigar specialist that was giving tutorials on smoking cigars with sips of brandy. While walking through the farm, I was impressed with the art pieces that made the place more interesting than the typical farm. Finally, the group photo of all the employees that could make the 70 year celebration capped a great Freeman Day at the Farm.
Happy 2016! During some time off for the holidays, I am blogging about some events from last year. September was the celebration of the Peterson Companies 50 year anniversary. As long as I have lived in northern Virginia, I have lived near, shopped at, or worked in a property created by them. Joanna from Peterson’s marketing has had my cover corporate events, property openings, and some other work at their centers. Thus, I was honored to cover this special event for them.
Peterson Companies anniversary
Being that their company has stayed in business for 50 years is an amazing accomplishment. Moreover, they have impacted the DC metro area with their projects transforming the development of the entire region. On this occasion it was an honor to photograph the founder, Milt Peterson who spoke to all the guests. Afterwards, the buffet from Silver Spoon Caterers was opened! Luckily the weather cooperated, and they had a beautiful evening at their headquarters for an event. Because of the good weather, the lawn games were very popular. Additionally, golf balls were driven into the lake! Although this was a company party, many coworkers seemed like family. Undoubtedly this contributes to their continued success.
Last April, the Hyatt Regency Tysons opened to great fanfare out on the Plaza. The complex that Macerich is making adjacent to Tysons Corner Center is coming together. In addition to the mall, they now have a residential tower, office tower and this hotel. Many VIPs were in attendance to make remarks for the occasion.
The weather cooperated with us allowing the ceremony to be both inside and outside the building. Given that is was so nice outside, A trio of horn players played at the ribbon cutting! The sound of their horns echoed very nicely around the Plaza.
Hotel Interior
Once the ceremony was completed, we were invited inside to view at the spaces in the interior. As well as a hotel, there is a new restaurant opening with the hotel, Barrel and Bushel. Their bar area opens right to the Plaza. That will be convenient during the Summer Concert Series! The restaurant also had a large dining room, and a private area for small parties to get together.
Plaza Overlook
Additionally, we were brought to some of the hotel rooms to show off the accommodations. From the 4th floor conference room area, they have a beautiful view overlooking the Plaza. I can see many conference making this a signature venue in the Tysons area for special events. Unquestionably this will be a centerpiece of the Tysons area both for locals and visitors to the area.
