Uploading photos continuing

The uploading of the photos is continuing! There are 9780 photos in total, so it does take a while to get on the web, but they will be up there soon! Also, there are many folders going up since we sorted them by the gentleman’s number. Thanks for checking out the blog! All the photos will be posted to the proofing website here-

As can be seen, you can order your images in black and white. Unlike the color images, these monochrome tones can highlight the lines of the dancers. Especially when you have a colorful dress, this can distract from the work you put into your dancing.

From a photographer perspective, black and white is a departure from reality. For the most part, people see in color. With this in mind, changing a photo monochrome starts you on the path to artistic freedom. Taking the image above for example, I darkened the areas surrounding the dancers to make the pop out even more. When the photo was desaturated, I thought that the other dancers, the audience, and the room did not add much to the composition. So I darkened those attempting to make it clearer. How did it work?

Editing completed, Uploading started

Ballroom Dance Judges, Diptych, after editing completed - www.timelinedc.com

Bethesda, Maryland

At this time the editing is completed from last weekend’s USA Dance 2013 Mid-Atlantic Championships! This is likely the slowest part of the post process. When going through all the photos, I crop photos if needed to focus on a couple in the frame. Moreover, some color balance will need to be done to try to make the colors consistent over the complete collection.

Subsequently, the photos are now being sorted, and uploaded, which will take a little more time. We have just over 9700 photos from the weekend. We are sorting them by number so that you don’t have to look through thousands of other people’s photos to get to yours. For this reason, we take the time to make it easier for visitors. It is a balancing act of getting lots of photos of all the dancers, but making them easy to find.

If you have any trouble finding your photos, you can call or email me at rassi at timelinedc.com. Of course, I will post here as soon as the photos are ready to view. Thanks again for your patience, and I can’t wait for you to see these! Overall, I think we made some great photos last weekend!

UPDATE – At this time, the photos are now ready to view at the TimeLine Media proofing site! In addition to the photos from the dance floor, there are some photos of the judges, and organizers. Given that they were so helpful to us over the weekend, it would have been impossible to do this big job without them. With this in mind, I made sure to get some photos of them behind the scenes, or in this case, off the floor. In summary, it takes a lot of work by a lot of dedicated people to pull off a competition of this size. However, they did it again this year. The lighting setup in the room definitely made the photo editing afterwards much easier. I hope you enjoy the photos!
