2015 Summer Showcase Expiring

From last summer, the 2015 Summer Showcase Expiring at the TimeLine Media proofing site. Given that this was only one day, we were thankful that so many shared and purchased photos from this event! Below is the link:

International Dance Extravaganza

On this occasion, the performances from the Arthur Murray professionals were based on a theme. Staff shows were all international dances. Moreover three of them were group formations.

The costumes worn during these shows also emphasized the theme. Besides the excellent dancing, the colorful fashion that sometime departed from traditional dance wear added interest. Further, the group routines added an extra element for the audience to follow.

Photography wise, I had to switch between cameras to cover these. On one hand, I had a body with a wide angle lens to cover the group formations. Unlike routines with only couples, I need to cover almost the entire floor!

2015 DC Dance Challenge photos Released

Downtown DC Dance Competition

The 2015 DC Dance Challenge photos released at the TimeLine Media proofing site! Last weekend, we enjoyed seeing some local dance friends at they competed at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center. Once in a while you get the opportunity to photograph in some grand spaces. Without a doubt the Ronald Reagan building was one of them! Luckily, we had a nice setup for our lighting, and a large space to freely move around to get nice images of the dancers.

Certainly being supportive was the top priority for the dancers attending this event. We have been covering this event for Jennifer Bonini for a few years now, and she keeps the friend vibes going by being such a great host. Meanwhile the dancers really give it their best when they are out on the floor whether their heats are contested or not.

2015 Fall Freestyles Released

Today on the proofing site, the photos of the 2015 Fall Freestyles released for viewing. The studios from the DC area gathered at the Hilton McLean in Tysons, VA for the event on Friday and Saturday. To see the photos from the weekend, you can click this link:

It was another hotly contested Potomac Cup team match on Saturday afternoon. This time the schools from Virginia triumphed over the excellent dancers from Maryland to claim the cup for this event. Although this is a friendly competition, the winning team really gets a boost taking home the trophy until next time.

During dinner breaks, I made some group photos as people came on and off the social dance floor. Undeniably, my first shot was an accident! I had a longer exposure time dialed into the camera.

Following this accident, I continued experimenting with the settings. Of course finding willing volunteers is not difficult at a ballroom dance event.
