Since we were coming back to the Westin in Alexandria, we had a similar setup to last year. Jennifer Bonini setup the ballroom very nicely again this year! Along with the warm stadium lighting that was brought in, the ballroom had a soft glow for the event. For this reason, we had an easy setup for photos. Comparatively to other ballrooms, their tall ceilings meant the lights were as high as I could get them!
The photos from last weekend’s 2019 Fall Freestyles have been released! It has not been long since the Summer Showcase, but we still made plenty of new photos. As a matter of fact, we posted a record number of photos – over 11,400! Then we sorted and uploaded them here:
Although there were close to 500 heats over the weekend, there was a nice variety of events danced. Firstly, Friday had the smooth heats for most of the afternoon. Following those heats, they had some variety dances and the club dance events. To clarify these were dances that are not traditionally added to every program. West Coast Swing, Bachata, Salsa, and Hustle were in the variety categories. Following these heats, some dancers may be adding some dances to their programs!
On Saturday afternoon, the growing popularity of Arthur’s Kids brought young ones out to the dance floor. When the kids went out on the floor everyone admired their poise! Since most people in the ballroom had a turn out there, they know how much nerve it takes to get out there. For this reason, they were encouraging to the kids that likewise went out there. Finally the pro-am part of the event ended with rhythm heats. Such a busy weekend!
The photos from the 2019 Spring Freestyles are expiring soon! While I know the Fall Freestyles is just around the corner, we need to make server room. In the light of a busy summer, we really appreciate all the traffic to the website. Likewise we are thankful for the photo purchases that keep us going. While they are still up, they will be available here:
As can be seen from the posted photos, we had seven awesome shows to finish this event. Of course not everyone likes the same dance. In that case, this was a nice mix for the final show. Because all of these were all couples with no group formations, there was more for students to learn for their dancing. Without a doubt, they took some of what they saw to their next lesson at the studio. Undoubtedly I have some photos for posters for next time! Check out the Facebook page for that contest soon.
