Milwaukee, WI

Another summer with another work-related trip to the Mid-west. At this time, Milwaukee Wisconsin was the destination. Prior to this trip, I have never visited.

This, however, was by special request by my cousin, Renato. He has always been a very gifted artist with the visual and performing arts since we were young. This would be the first time I would see him perform in his home place in front of his home crowd. It was also nice to visit Renato in Milwaukee, a city I’ve never visited in his recently acquired 100-year old house. Thanks for the accommodations!

I was honored that he asked me to document the happenings of the 8th Annual Umali Awards, at the Green Gallery East, as well as watch him perform with two bands at the Bremen Cafe.

This was the first time I had really seen Renato stressed with all of the planning and logistics of getting something like this put together. I suppose I usually only seem him when he is on vacation, so his blood, sweat, and almost tears were seen until a needed video cable for the projector were found for the presentations.

Luckily, John was able to get the right connections, and the show went on without a hitch. The presentations, awards, and speeches – so creative and humorous! I hope I get the chance to go again!

The next morning, Renato treated us all to a huge breakfast at the Comet Cafe. I was the least adventurous with my food and drink but was quite satisfied with the meal.

Thanks to Sarah, John, and Renato for hanging out, and showing us a good time in Wisconsin. See you soon!

Mary and Michael

It was a beautiful ceremony and celebration at the Fair Oaks Marriott for Mary and Michael. Family, friends gathered to witness their union from the ketubah signing to the vows under the chuppah in the spacious atrium. The celebration was complete with a full brunch and a healthy wedding cake.

On this occasion, the Fair Oaks Marriott has a beautiful interior space for wedding ceremonies. With a very tall atrium, the overhead light was beautiful on all the faces. Undeniably, this is a great option is you want to have an outdoor – feeling ceremony. However, you are worried about our humid summers, or unpredictable rains.

Thanks especially to Mary and Michael for having me cover their wedding ceremony. They were in particular very accommodating to the friends and family that traveled to celebrate with them. Congratulations to you both!

If you are planning an upcoming wedding, please use this post to illustrate what I can do for you. Planning your photos is very different compared to many other vendors for your wedding. Firstly, you will be spending a lot more time with your photographer. Be sure that your personalities mesh as you will be spending a lot of time together on a stressful day!

Kathleen and Jim

With all the weddings I have been to recently, it was nice to be a guest for Kathleen and Jim at their celebration! Jim was one of my oldest friends from high school. We had a good crowd back then – mostly band mates, having good-natured fun at rehearsals, concerts, trips. Jim was always current with sports, and always ready to pick you up with a good laugh! Some of my best memories of high school – Jim running around on stage in our production of “South Pacific” with a coconut bra and grass skirt as he played Lt. Billis, or Bryony letting Jim take a quick joy-ride in her tiny Ford Festiva around Locust Shade Park

Well, it was nice to see that Jim hasn’t changed at all! (The only difference – a slight change in moniker to “Jimmy”). We were honored to be invited to the wedding. I had to bring my camera to snag some personal photos for myself. Mike was their official photographer, and he gave me a quick peek at some of his images at the reception. The album is going to be great! Thanks Kathleen and Jimmy for letting us join your friends and family on your beautiful wedding day!
