Early Bird – American Star Ball

Today is the last day to get any of the photos from the 2013 American Star Ball for 20% off the normal price. This is the early bird sale after the first release of the images for viewing. You will still be able to view the photos on the website after today, only the sale is ending. They will be kept on the website until September 23, 2013. There are many orders to place from the weekend, so this will be a quick post.

This next photo was one of my favorites from the entire weekend. I had seen them dance this line a few times, but this was the only one where they were lined up directly in front of me. I was took the photo a few times just to make sure I had it for the few seconds they held the pose!

American Star Ball – Rising Star Smooth Final

It’s another editing day in the studio. There are a couple of shoots that I need to go through before the to-do pile gets too large. Continuing the theme from yesterday’s post, I have some photos that I liked from the Professional Rising Star Smooth competition at the American Star Ball. It is a little selfish to enjoy the Smooth competition more than Standard. It is much easier to get both dancer’s faces in photos! Additionally, I am more familiar with smooth figures. With this in mind, I can anticipate the placement of the dancers in my camera.

The challenge of getting Standard dancers is also fun. However, their closed position throughout the heat makes the variety in images more challenging. At this point, the facial expressions become important to distinguish the dances. Perhaps that is just something I think about when photographing from off the dance floor. I do want to keep viewers interested! I’m sure there will be some in a future post very soon. Enjoy!

American Star Ball – Rising Star American Rhythm Competition

I am trying to catch up from the long weekend today. Though, I do have lots of photos to work on for orders and other edits. Hopefully, you have recovered from the weekend by the time you read this! Thanks especially to everyone that visited the proofing site looking at the newly released photos from the American Star Ball. Here are some favorites from the Pro Rising Star Rhythm competition. This was held on Friday evening – starting with a 9 couple Semi-final heat and 6 couple Final.

These were from the semifinal round. At this time, there are more competitors on the floor as the couples are vying for a spot in the finals. Subsequently, the dancers gave their best to impress the judges. They only had a few moments to catch the judges eye for a good score. While photographing this hear, I am more anxious to capture at least some good photos of each couple. The high energy, quick dancing makes it seem even more fleeting when they start dancing. Enjoy!
