2017 McKee-Beshers WMA

Sunflower Fields

It was 2017 since we have visited the McKee-Beshers Wildlife Management Area. Although we have this on the calendar every year, there are some obstacles to going every year. Firstly, the sunflowers are planted so that they bloom around the hottest time of the year. Additionally, the middle of summer has been busy with other photography projects. This year, however, I am much slower on photography project. So maybe this will be the time to go back.

Thinking of visiting the fields, this would be a great way to social distance! Surely the weather will not be forgiving. It is already hazy, hot, and humid as per usual in this area.

Also looking at these photos, we were very lucky with the day we visited. At this time, I only had my phone with me. Given that this was a spontaneous decision to visit, I will plan better if we got this year. Undoubtedly I’ll bring one of my proper cameras and experiment with some ideas I am previsualizing. To be sure I’ll have the website on a shortlist to visit daily until the flowers are ready. If anyone would like to collaborate on some photos, let’s plan to meet out there!

2019 Winter Showcase Expiring

Competition is nice, however, professional shows are my favorite! Now that an professional competition is a more regular occurrence, I appreciate these even more. Comparatively, the crowd is more settled. Similar to a tennis match, they do not want to distract the dancers. However, they still have the same excitement internally. In similar fashion, I sometimes wish my camera shutter was quieter on a gentler show. Given that I still need to get the photos, I forge on. Soon, I get over it since I know you can’t hear the sounds in the still photos later. Without a doubt, I had plenty of candidates for posters from these shows. I made some to display at the recent Spring Freestyles! It’s a great way to illustrate what these studios can do. It also attracts people to join us for the next one!

Overall it was a spooky night for the Fall Fling! The spirit of Halloween was all over the inside and outside of the ballroom. Still that skeleton that greeted guests at the ballroom entrance haunts me!

2019 FADS Fall Fling – Professional Shows

To cap the event, the professionals that danced with students all day put on a show. Partnering with other professionals allows them to demonstrate a higher level for the students in attendance. Giving the dance fans something to shoot for in their dancing is a great way to end this event. I know everyone will be back at the studio to start working for the next one. We hope to see you there!
