Photos from the 2015 New Jersey State Open released at the TimeLine Media proofing site! This event was held at the Bally’s in Atlantic City, NJ. Another fun weekend by organizers Roxanne and Susan Ardary. Additionally Tom Rzepnicki from Dancing with Friends dance studio also hosted the dancers this year. Following many years of covering this event, we were excited to join them again!
The Bally’s in Atlantic City was the first ballroom I had ever seen outside of our local area. To be sure, I am older, and I have seen many more dancers since. However, I still have the same enthusiasm for seeing great dancing. Unquestionably, this was on display all weekend from the pros and the amateurs.
Lastly I would like to thank Roxanne, Susan, and Tom for having me at their event again this year. Certainly I appreciate their support. Additionally, I thank the dancers for viewing and sharing the photos. Thank you!
Two big updates are on the TimeLine Media proofing website today. The most urgent is today is the last day to view and purchase photos from the 2014 New Jersey State Open! This was a great event at a new venue last year held October 23-26, 2014. The Bally’s in Atlantic City is the site of the first time I ever seriously photographed ballroom dancers, and this was a nice way to recharge my photography with a new scene, and a new lighting setup. Because of the way the room was setup, I had a very two-sided lighting setup that really worked well over this weekend.
The photos as usual, were organized by the number worn by male dancers during competitive heats. We saw a lot of familiar faces out there, and they seemed to really enjoy the setup this year. If you did dance at this competition, but you had some trouble finding your photos, please let me know. I would be happy to find your photos, or take your orders over the phone. I know there can be some snafus placing an order online, and I would be happy to talk with you about your images too.
Dancesport Competition
These were some of my favorite images from the pro-am part of the competition. The majority of the action at these competitions have students and their instructors on the dance floor, and I thought I should feature them on here as I usually post photos of the professional competitions. This is an example of what your photos will look like if we are sent to cover your upcoming competition. We love having good images of our dancing to have and share with friends on social media. The videos just do not have the same impact as a good still in my mind.
Also, please note that the early-bird sale form the UPenn Classic also ends at the proofing site today. This is the 15% off sale on all orders from this event. The photos will still be available to view from this event, only the sale is ending. The New Jersey State Open, however, will not be available to view after tonight. The files are moving to the archive to make room for new events on the website.
We have two events on the schedule coming up this weekend – the DC Area Arthur Murray Spring Freestyles, and the Baltimore Dancesport Challenge. Stay tuned here and at the proofing site for updates on them. See you on the dance floor soon!
It was another great weekend of dance photography! On Saturday, we covered the DC Area Arthur Murray Fall Showcase event. I am now working through all the files from the event and I hope to have them uploaded by Friday. Stay tuned to the blog or the TimeLine Media Facebook page for the latest updates. I cannot way to share these images with you! It was so much fun to see all the new routines from the Rock and Roll theme – both the dancing and the music really made the time fly. Until they are ready, please view the photos from the 2014 New Jersey State Open. The early-bird sale from this event ends tonight, Monday, November 17, 2014. I know I have not been blogging as regularly the last few weeks, and it is because I have been catching up with all the photo shoots I have been doing. I have not even gone through all the photos from this event to pick out my favorites to keep in the portfolio! In the quick look I did for this post, I know I have to do that soon. There were some great images from the professional Rising Star and Open Professional shows.
Professional Competition
There were also some other entertainment to go along with the ballroom dancing. The Lindy Hop All Stars and magician David Darwin rounded out the main show. Thanks to everyone that visited the website over the past three weeks. I have sent a lot of prints all around the country and I am sure the digital files have been sent even farther and faster! Please send the link to anyone that attended the competition and have not yet seen their photos. They will be available to view on the website until next March, it is only the pricing for items that will go up starting tomorrow.
