Last week, I photographed the BrandBox Puppy Party at Tysons Corner Center. With puppies from the Wolf Trap Animal Rescue, the marketing team put on a ‘Puppy Party’ in the BrandBox lounge. For a small donation, you had the chance to cuddle with a puppy for a few minutes. In this case, once the puppies were brought out, the line went down the long hallway. Undoubtedly these adoptable puppies will find homes very quickly!

During the event, I got an education on the Wolf Trap Animal Rescue. After all, I see their events around the Tysons area often. Although there are many similar organizations in the area, they have some key differences. As a veterinarian-led animal rescue, health of the animals is their primary concern. Also, many of their animals come from the state of Mississippi. The great effort needed to transport and coordinate the transfer of animals to the area helps to relieve overloaded shelters from there.

Wayfair Pop Up

Tysons Corner Center

Earlier this month, I photographed the opening day of the Wayfair Pop Up at Tysons Corner Center. Although I was only familiar with this brand from their TV ads, this physical location tied in closely with their brand. Overall, their pop up from the inside out was a cohesive showcase of thier store from the colors used in their walls to their products on their shelves. Because I photograph a lot of storefronts, kiosks, and pop ups, I can see how difficult it can be to pull this off.

When I first saw the location in the Concourse, I was first drawn to the symmetrical frame. Because of that impression, this was how I thought the photos would work best to represent this pop up. I made a few other images at an angle, but overall I think these work best. Especially on their first day, they really had the location camera-ready at the start!

Tysons Corner Center

Last week, I covered the opening of the Change It Up Pop Up at Tysons Corner Center. Presented by the Hair Cuttery, this was a color-overload activation at the mall! Since the pop up is only open until September 3, there was a packed house with pre-registered guests that were there on opening night. Hair Cuttery founder Dennis Ratner was in attendance on this occasion before they bring this to other locations around the country. Because the Rattner Companies is based in Tysons, and the first location for the salon was in nearby Springfield, it makes sense this was their first stop. As can be seen in the photos, this was the most colorful pop up I have photographed at the mall! Instagrammers should take advantage while it is still open.
