These are the last events that I covered of Santa at Tysons Corner Center. As I have noted previously, the 2016 Santa Breakfast is one of the most attended events during the holidays. Not only do you get a nice breakfast, but you get to see Santa and the Funny Little People perform too!
Washington, DC – 94.7 Fresh FM
Another morning, I got up early to photograph Santa on a field trip! We drove from Tysons to Southwest DC to the studios of 94.7 Fresh FM. Since the Tommy Show visited the Santa HQ set for many events, this time we went to their studios. Broadcasting across the region, Santa took questions from kids and parents for Christmas. Also, he played some games with the in-studio audience, and took lots of photos. Surely his performance solidified his stardom as the man to visit during the holidays!
Last weekend, the Arthur Murray studio in Gaithersburg, Maryland invited me to their studio. The staff hosted a holiday tea dance on Saturday afternoon. This was the first time I had visited their location! Even though I have been photographing them for years at the large events, I have not been inside previously.
2016 Gaithersburg Tea Dance
Participation is one of the strengths of this studio. As soon as dancing starts at Freestyles, it will not be long until you hear, “Go Gaithersburg!” in the ballroom. Of course, the same was true here. During the afternoon, there were social dances, and some performances put on by their staff.
Afterwards, I got some group photos of everyone there. This was a challenge with all the people that attended the dance! Seeing that there were so many people attending on a weekend during a busy time, it was heart-warming to see. Without a doubt, they create a community around their passion for dance. They support dancers of every level, and they are genuine in wanting everyone to progress and succeed.
After the guests left, I made some group photos of the staff. Of course, these would be great for holiday cards from the studio. I really enjoyed the short time I had with them. They were in the holiday spirit, and very happy with the turn out for their tea dance! In any case, I don’t think it would be hard to get great photos of this group. They play off against each other well! Since they work together every day, they know how to get good expressions out of their coworkers. Congratulations, on a great 2016 Gaithersburg! I look forward to more images in 2017.
Earlier in the year, I was contacted by Andrew Roby Events to do a bridal shoot in DC. On this occasion we met at Malmaison near Georgetown. Given that I have photographed a couple of events for Andrew previously, I was excited about this event!
Andrew shows through these photos what an excellent event planner can do. For this reason, he setup an entire wedding reception table complete with linens, tableware, decorations, and dessert! Not only was the room setup, but he had two models to stand in as bride and groom!
In effect, he prepared an entire wedding reception at Malmaison in DC for this shoot. While this shows what he can do from a design standpoint, it also shows the capabilities of his team. Given that this was a completely empty restaurant room, he produced a beautiful space for a reception. In the event that you would are planning a wedding or corporate event in the area, Andrew and his team should be the first call you should make!
