Arthur Murray – Professional Formation

Busy Sunday today! Someone on the email list informed me that I forgot to post photos from the professional formation from the last Arthur Murray DC event. So sorry! Of course, I did not mean to leave them off my blogging list. It was on there, however just waiting its turn. And here they are! These are my favorite photos from the Salsa professional dance formation. It was performed by the Gaithersburg and Silver Spring studios. The team performed the dance so smoothly – transitioning between partners, forming lines, circles, all while

Overall it is a lot to take in when photographing formation groups. Especially with the staff performing at a professional level, there is a lot to attempt to capture. Of course they have the dance figures, but they have the added element of their body position to other couples. With this in mind, I don’t think I have a good strategy for photographing this aspect. I do love having the chance to try!

Arthur Murray Spring Freestyles – Professional Showcase

Overall, I am making lots of progress with the photos! This is usually a Tech Thursday post, but I really want to work on more of the edits and sorting of the Arthur Murray Spring Freestyles photos. Still on track to have them up by Saturday – if there are any delays, I’ll let you know here on the blog or on Facebook. In the meantime, here are some photos from Tess and Jumarcelon’s professional showcase dance. These two are from the Arthur Murray studio in Silver Spring, MD. It was one of the awesome shows that ended a great weekend of dancing. I’m sure a few of these photos will make it into the portfolio

The dimension from these photos really impressed me! Due to the lighting, we have the popping out of the frame. Additionally, it the flash adds a nice shimmer to the green gloves, dress, and tie. Generally, I do not think about this when setting up for photos. However, this really shows nicely! Perhaps it is the contrast between her sparkle, and his dark suit that sets it apart. What do you think?

Kathleen and Jim

With all the weddings I have been to recently, it was nice to be a guest for Kathleen and Jim at their celebration! Jim was one of my oldest friends from high school. We had a good crowd back then – mostly band mates, having good-natured fun at rehearsals, concerts, trips. Jim was always current with sports, and always ready to pick you up with a good laugh! Some of my best memories of high school – Jim running around on stage in our production of “South Pacific” with a coconut bra and grass skirt as he played Lt. Billis, or Bryony letting Jim take a quick joy-ride in her tiny Ford Festiva around Locust Shade Park

Well, it was nice to see that Jim hasn’t changed at all! (The only difference – a slight change in moniker to “Jimmy”). We were honored to be invited to the wedding. I had to bring my camera to snag some personal photos for myself. Mike was their official photographer, and he gave me a quick peek at some of his images at the reception. The album is going to be great! Thanks Kathleen and Jimmy for letting us join your friends and family on your beautiful wedding day!
