Thankful holiday time

Reflecting on this 2016 Christmas Day, I am nothing but thankful. In short, my family is happy and healthy which is all you can ask for. Moreover, I am so fulfilled with my photography career. Over this year as I have noted, there have been new projects, new clients, and thousands of new photos.

All in all, making new photos is the best part about this career. You challenge yourself to make something unique, and to get into new events. Especially since I do not consider myself the most aggressive marketer, I am thankful that people have found me. Moreover, I appreciate my current clients that come back for repeat business.

Even if I were to say that I am content with my scheduled clients, I am still looking to do even more next year. I’ll keep myself available, and continue to be a presence in the Tysons, Virginia area for assignments. In any case, I am so thankful for you blog readers that follow along. Please reach out if you have any ideas for photo projects in the new year!

September 11 – Thankful

Self Portrait

It is September 11 – another year older, another year in photography, and thankful for both.  Since 2001, this has been a day of reflection for our country. Overall it has subdued all of my birthdays since, but it has been a blessing. Looking back at the past year, I am amazed at the changes. Being a photographer, I use my Lightroom catalog as the journal to review my life over 12 months. I credit my re-commitment to blogging as the biggest change. Photography continues to be the biggest part of my life professionally and personally – the blog driving me to produce even better photos every time I pick up the camera. There are so many things to try and having a forum to discuss and show results really pushes me to get out there, find subjects, and get results.

Thankful

I am thankful most for my wife – supporting my photography with her energy and ideas. She has helped to make TimeLine Media what it is now with her work at ballroom dance events, both at events and after sorting through thousands of photos by dancer. She has helped with many ideas for blogging topics – making photo walks with me and helping to find spots that would be interesting for photos. I am not sure I would have been able to sustain the blog or the company without her help, and I try hard not to let her efforts go to waste! We have come so far and have done amazing things since starting – we are definitely excited for the future.

In going through the photos, I am also so thankful for the other photographers in the area that have helped me along the way. Some have shown me how to edit photos, how to shoot weddings, how to assist – the list goes on and on. It has been more collaborative than I would have thought for such a competitive field. Thanks to all the photographers that have shot for us, or with us at events! We really could not have done it without you. You have always put your best efforts to get amazing photos, and it is helps to lower our stress levels when there are people we can trust helping us.

September Birthday Wishes

My mother called me – she wished me “Happy Birthday” and said she was thankful to have made it to see me at 37. My whole family has given me lots to photograph over the year – lots of family get togethers has provided some of my favorite photographs – the ones you would save in a tornado – kind of photos. It is a privilege to be a photographer, and hopefully better images are around the corner!

TimeLine Media Proofing Site Upgrades

Panorama of Belmont Bay - iPhone 5

Whew! The upgrades to the TimeLine Media proofing site are now completed. Additionally, the changes were implemented without any hitches so far. I would like to ask a favor of those of you that have visited the site before. Could you please come back and visit the website to see if you run into any bugs? If there are any issues, I would like to see if they can be fixed before the next big event. Of course it is completely free to view, and share the photos online as always. However, if you find a photo you want as a print or digital download, you can enter the coupon code:

This will take $5 off any order placed until next Monday. I have tested the site myself, and it works for me, but experiences can be different when many people try. It is not much different in appearance from the previous version, but here is what the new site looks like!

Website Launch

New Proofing Site – http://www.timelinedc.com/proofs

As far as new features, there is a mobile site that is better for mobile phones to access photos. This version of the site will allow the images to be loaded faster than with the full site. In this site, you can view all the photos on the website, and mark some of your favorites as you see them. You cannot, though, purchase any products in the mobile version of the site. In order to place orders, you need to switch to the Full Site version which you can do from the Home page. Here is a screen shot of where you can switch between the 2 versions if needed:

Once you click on the “View full site” you will switch to the version of the site where purchases can be made from your smart phone. The full site is the default version of the site that will be shown when you are on a PC, iMac or an iPad which have larger screens. Please note that if you do may purchases on iPads or other mobile devices, you need to immediately save your photos locally to your device. The website only allows one download of your photo per purchase by default. I can reset that for you, but it would be easier to just save your download as soon as you see it.

Contact Information

I know that this is a very techy-geeky post – thanks for reading this far! If you have any problems with the site, please let me know by email: rassi @ timelinedc.com, or phone me: 703-864-8208. Thanks again, and let me know how it goes. I’ll leave you with at least one photo looking across Belmont Bay to my hometown of Woodbridge, VA – taken by my mobile phone, and developed with the Snapseed app from Google:
