The Boro, Tysons, VA

Last week I photographed a 2018 April Lunch and Learn for the Tysons Partnership. On this occasion the topic was ‘Collaborative Approaches to Urban Parks and Public Space in Tysons’. With this in mind, this event really illustrates the mission of the Partnership. During the panel discussion, many partners from Fairfax County, the architects, developers, and property mangers explained recent successes.

Collaboration among many players is needed at this time. Before these large development projects are started, buy in from those involved will ensure their needs are fulfilled years before completion. It was interesting as an observer to hear how these issues are resolved. Without a doubt this is a privilege to see these highly intelligent and motivated leaders make these things happen. Further, I am excited to see these changes come to Tysons!

For the photos, I set up one flash through an umbrella. As can be seen this was a very large room! Thankfully the large white walls helped to fill it in the exposure.

The Palm, Tysons, Virginia

Last week, I photographed the reception for Luzia opening in Tysons. Following the construction of the tent by the Galleria for the Cirque du Soleil show, the Tysons Partnership held a reception at the Palm. On this occasion, they could not have picked a more perfect afternoon for an outdoor reception! For one thing, it was not very humid, and the shade from the Palm Restaurant building shielded the crowd from any hard sunlight. Overall, this made for an easy assignment for photos.

Afterwards, the group had access to an early showing of ‘Luzia – A Waking Dream of Mexico’. Being that it was so close to the restaurant, the group just walked over. I look forward to seeing the show while it is in Tysons this summer!

Tysons Corner Center

Last month, I photographed the 2018 Easter Egg Hunt and Fashion Show at Tysons Corner Center. This time, the Fashion Court was again the venue for the event and was set up very early. Treats for kids to ‘hunt’ for was scattered on the floor, and segmented by age. That is, the younger kids would have a chance in a separate section without being trampled by older kids! When the stanchions were released, the hunt too only a few minutes to complete! Lots of Easter eggs, coloring books, and games were cleared out so quickly.

Spring Fashion Show

After the 2018 Easter Egg Hunt was completed, they cleared the floor, and held a Spring fashion show in front of the glass elevators. Being that this was the first time I had covered a fashion show here, I was excited about the new location! With the Turkish Coffee Lady store in front of Lord and Taylor, this would be the new location for these shows. Setting up the flahes and shooting in this larger open space was a different look, but I think it made the models pop off the screen much more!
