Arthur Murray – Spring Freestyles

Just another reminder that the countdown is on for the end of the 2013 Arthur Murray Spring Freestyles photos. Soon, they will be removed from the proofing website this upcoming Monday! Arthur Murray 2013 Spring Freestyles photos

For these posters, I wanted to up my photo collage game. This first poster adds some landscape – orientation photos along with portrait formatted ones. Additionally, I added an Arthur Murray logo to match a color present in the images. For that reason, I picked the orange, from a dress, and the lights installed above the dance floor.

In the second, I went with 3 square frames for the images. Obviously these are all cropped from the images since our cameras do not shoot in that format natively. To add some additional interest, I enlarged the center one. The blue – green logo comes from the ladies dresses to tie these all together. While working on these, I learned some nice lessons on working in graphic design software. Especially the logo which is a vector-based file, it is very flexible in this format. Arthur Murray – Chevy Chase, Maryland

It’s finally Friday! Do you have all your weekend plans ready yet? I am working on some ballroom brag books and other special orders that were placed this week, but I hope to take a break and get more photos to blog about soon. Today is a post is from the Arthur Murray studio at Chevy Chase, Maryland. This was a cool, flirty, West Coast Swing Medley professional showcase. Veteran pros Tavia and Austin showed off their West Coast for us! It looks so easy for them to do this challenging dance. I have tried a few basic steps and had to put it on the shelf for a while – my mind and feet are not quite ready!

These two have done lots of shows at the end of these events. Moreover my favorite ballroom dance photo of 2012 was from their Viennese Waltz performance. While I really like the photo, I am so glad that they feel the same way! They have quite a variety in the dances they perform, and I enjoy how their images display. Hope you enjoy them too!

If you were at this event, let me know what your favorite show was. Of course you can view all the photos at the website, but perhaps you can go from your memory. It would be interesting to hear the perspective from others in the audience at the same time.

Spring Freestyles almost expired

Spring Freestyles photos are almost done – time really flies during a busy ballroom season! The deadline on both the sale expiring on the Showcase photos, and Baltimore DanceSport photos expiring from the website really came quickly. So in order to give a little more heads up, I will try to post here earlier when photo deadlines are coming up.

In that case, I want to post that the photos from the Arthur Murray Spring Freestyles will be expiring from the website in 2 weeks on July 29, 2013. After that date, it will be $30 to get the photos out of the archive server, and re-uploaded to the image server. There were 6500+ images from this 2-day event. We have sent prints and digital files from these all over the region, and a few across the country!

Thanks to everyone that visited the website for these – here is a direct link to the photos from this event. In case you forgot some of the events from that day, there were lots of great dancing on the large dance floor split into 2 separate areas. Both sides were full for most of the day, and teams from Maryland and Virginia competed for the Potomac Cup! The football-themed team from Maryland bested the Japanese-themed team from Virginia to regain the championship. Everyone that was there for the Potomac Cup took a little time to do a Harlem Shake!

We enjoyed both the photography and videography from this event, and we know there will be more in store for the next competition. We plan to be there to cover that as well, so stay tuned for more photos from then. Thank you!
