From youth dancers, college-age students, to seasoned dance enthusiasts, there was a large range of participants in this competition. Seeing that so many of this diverse group came together to dance was inspiring! Undeniably this is a goal for organizers Lee and Veronica. Because of their outreach efforts to other studios, they have grown this competition over the last few years. Given that they know how to run a smooth competition, it is easy to see how they continue to keep this tradition going!

Tysons, Virginia

Last week I went out to the Plaza at Tysons Corner Center. On Tuesday the MLB All Star Game was broadcast on a large screen. On this occasion the sports talk radio station 106.7 The Fan was there to give away prizes for the Washington Nationals. Danny Rouhier emceed some of the games, and running president George Washington came to say hello!

Prior to this week, there was a concert stage setup right where the large TV screen was installed. Rachel Platten sang for the crowd, and this night she was now singing the National Anthem at the All Star Game! Above all, George Washington was the star of this event. Undeniably being the tallest person in the room helps to garner attention!

Luckily, the weather in Tysons was just as good as San Diego where the game was played!

Valo Park, Tysons, VA

TEDxTysons – Future Tense is the first event by this new organization! it was a privilege to be the first photographer to cover this event which hopes to be a regular occurrence. This assignment was another connection that was made through Tysons Corner Center. Since I photograph many events there, they referred me to the organizers. As they developed their website, I volunteered to make new photos of the Tysons area for them.

Speaker Dinner

It must be remembered that all the organizers and workers for this event are volunteers. Sponsors of the event contribute meals, apparel, the venue, etc. In the lead up to the main event there were some final details that I covered in photos. Volunteers gathered for a walk-through of the venue for the purpose of learning the details to help guests navigate.
