Seldex matted albums

In preparation for the upcoming bridal show in Chantilly, I had some sample wedding albums made for the display. The Seldex 10 inch square album from Finao is the one shown here. It is a more traditional album in that it is made with photographic prints that are matted to the pages of the book. I have seen many albums that are available at retail shops, but this album is definitely a cut above. The cover on this particular album is “Burgundy Nepal” color made from an imitation leather material.

Mat Prints

I assemble each of these albums myself. It starts with designing of mat placement, editing and retouching of the photos. Finally the assembling of the photos/mats to the final book pages.

Each mat in the album is white with a white core although other colors and combinations are available from the manufacturer. The mat itself has a very fine texture to give the pages a feel similar to linen right up to the edges of each mat opening.

Each page of the book has a protective metal corner colored to match the pages. In this case it makes book assembly easier. Additionally, protects the edges as the book is used over time.

The binding for the book is very thick, and is very secure. The cover material is soft and pliable ensuring a long life of use either on a table or on a shelf. This book is definitely made to be used! This type of album could also be used as a parent album as it can be made in smaller dimensions, or as a proof-like album from a wedding or portrait session. This is definitely recommended if you’re looking for a matted album that is secured in it’s construction, yet customizable for each project.

Washington Bridal Showcase

TimeLine Media will be showing a booth of our work at the Washington Bridal Showcase this Sunday February, 1, 2009. The event is very convenient as far as transporting our display to the Dulles Expo Center in Chantilly. When looking at the schedule of shows, I did not realize that the event will be on Superbowl Sunday!

Luckily there should be plenty of time for future grooms to attend with their future brides. At this time, they can come and view our latest in albums, prints, and books. It will be the first bridal show for my company. Also, I am excited to meet future clients as well as the other exhibitors. Particularly it is nice to meet other photographers. I have enjoyed meeting other vendors in the same area. They inspire me to be a better photographer because of their flowers, decorations, cakes, etc.

Are you planning to go to the show? Have you event been to the Washington Bridal Showcase previously? Please stop by the booth to see if I am still upright. Being in front of strangers talking about my photography is not something I do very often. For this reason, I am nervous, but am still looking forward to the experience. We hope to see you there!

Shawn and Quincy

Shawn and Quincy had a beautiful wedding in Gainesville. The weather was clear and blustery. However, inside the church were two large, loving families coming together. For me, this wedding had another special meaning for me.

When I was a lot younger, my first wedding that I ever participated in was Shawn’s mother’s wedding! I was a very shy ring-bearer that did not smile very much. I remember a lot from that time since there was so much that went into it – I had to get a tuxedo, all-white, even the shoes. There was a rehearsal where the walking down the aisle at a slow pace was something hard for me to grasp. I distinctly remember Father Burns in the Our Lady of Angels chapel announce the newly married couple. After that, it is a blur.

I played the piano at many weddings in high school, and college. Also, I attended a few weddings as a guest after college. Now photographing many weddings as I build a portfolio is another experience. This latest stop was the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Gainesville. This facility is almost brand new with a familiar priest that used to work in Woodbridge. Since we were close to Manassas, we had a quick photo session with the bridal party on the historic battlefield, no less!

Bridal Walk

They were great sports to come out even in the disappearing sun and the rising winds. The reception then headed out to Woodbridge, where I was raised. Our Lady of Angels parish hall hosted the families for a great party with dancing, toasts, LOTS of pictures! The parish hall is surrounded by the elementary school that I attended for ten years, with the chapel right across the street. It’s was an amazing experience to photograph familiar people in familiar places, and I feel blessed to have been a part of the celebration… again. Shawn, Quincy, I really enjoyed photographing your wedding day. You were a lot of fun! Always looking at the camera, and SMILING! Thanks again, best wishes!
