Washington Monument Birthday!

The Washington Monument was dedicated on February 21, 1885. I guess that makes it the 127th birthday of the unmistakable landmark that greets visitors to the capitol city. The height restrictions on buildings in the city make it the most visible and identifiable marker, and it makes for a great backdrop for photos from the White House to the cherry blossoms, or even from across the river in Virginia. I’ll have to refresh my collection of images that include the monument next time I have the chance.

This image was one from a walk around the National Mall on a beautiful spring afternoon. With the clear blue skies, and strong sunlight, strong shadows were on the sides opposite from the sun. Adding a darkened vignette on the edges helps to emphasize the monument.

Although the structure looks basic, it can change its looks drastically throughout the day. On this occasion the up lighting below nicely highlights the edges in the setting sun. Since it is such a recognizable monument in the city, it gives you plenty of opportunities to set its location from you entire collection.

TimeLine Media Photo proofing

I am excited to announce that we have launched a new photo proofing site! It is still at the same place as the previous one-

http://proofs.timelinedc.com

There are some new features that were requested including the option for higher resolution instant downloads! The prices have remained the same for 2012, only the design has changed. Please take a look at the site and snoop around. If you see a photo from last year that you would still like to get, you can use the coupon code 2012new for $5 off your order until February 20th, 2012. If you have any feedback for me on the new site, please let me know in the comments. Thank you!

Also, if you have any trouble navigating around, I would be happy to help. I know change can be difficult, but I want to cut through any frustration. Although I have worked with these sites for a while, I know it takes an adjustment to get through all the details. Additionally, if you let me know, I can pass along your questions to others here on the blog. When we get through this adjustment, I look forward to putting new images out there!

Changes for 2012

There are some changes coming to the websites associated with TimeLine Media . We are working to make it easier for you to find what you came here for. First, the blog, which I hope to update at least twice as often as I did in 2011,  has now moved to a new address – https://blog.timelinedc.com

I will try to post information from recent shoots for those that like to see some quick previews of their photos, or post a look back at some older shoots that job my memory or inspire me to write for some reason! I have made so many photos, it would be a shame not to share them. Announcing some upcoming shoots is also part of the plan – hopefully I’ll be better prepared so I don’t sound too crazy before an event when I post here.

The other change to the website will be to the proofing of photos. The new website where images will be posted for preview and purchase will be – http://www.timelinedc.com/proofs

This will allow me to give other options that have been requested that I could not provide at the previous site. I hope to be putting some test events up soon, and hope you will give it a try for me. Nothing like real-world testing to break it in. If you have any suggestions for me about our photos, or if there is anything you would like me to post, please let me know! We are always on the look out for new ways to present photos – from prints to albums, and now calendars! More to come on that soon.
