Arthur Murray Silver Spring Professional Show | Dance Photographer

Tysons, Virginia

The preparations are in full swing now for the upcoming DC Area Arthur Murray Fall Freestyles event! It will be held at the Hilton McLean in Tysons Corner, VA on September 12-13, 2014. We have seen a lot of practicing in the studio the last few weeks, so I know the dancers are getting excited about showing off their new dresses, and planning their hair and makeup for the weekend dancing. I am currently working on posters to display at the event. Check out the TimeLine Media Facebook page for updates on the poster contest from the last Showcase event. I am not sure exactly how many will be printed for the event, so look there for updates.

The first post from the last Arthur Murray event is from the last professional show of the evening by the Silver Spring, Maryland studio. Tess and Omar have been teaching, competing and performing all across the country for the last few years. As dancers, we have been blessed to watch them as they have put their talents on display for us to be enjoy and be inspired to improve our own dancing.

Final Show

Earlier in the day, Omar told me the sad news that this would be their last show in our local events as their partnership was ending. This is always bittersweet to hear when good dancers leave the area. Especially for these two, as I have made so many great images of their dancing in their long career dancing together.

This performance was a compilation of so many styles. These two have done this before mixing pieces of figures from different dances as they interpret the music. They have done this before in other shows, and I always enjoy the photos as I review them. Selfishly, these are the ones that I wish I could watch without having to have my eye in the camera. This was another one – the emotion, the reactions from the Silver Spring crowd that new the circumstances, and the other teachers that have admired and worked and watched their work – it was too much to take in, but I tried my best. This is one of the cases where I don’t think it was enough. Best of luck to both of them as they start new chapters!
