Earlier this month, I photographed the 2019 Athleta Holiday Yoga event at Tysons Corner Center. Since we are in the middle of the Christmas holiday season, it is never too early to start healthy habits for the new year. At first, I did not want to make any noise as the event started. The yoga stretches were very calming with a DJ playing some soothing background music.

Afterwards, the participants were able to make their own smoothies. Wheely Good Smoothies had two bikes setup that let you mix your treat using your own leg power! While these were normal stationary bikes, they modified a mixer to be powered by the bike chain as a rider pedaled. This made for some surprisingly fun photos, and tasty smoothies!

2019 Yappy Hour

Earlier in the season, I photographed the 2019 Yappy Hour at the Santa HQ set at Tysons Corner Center. Previously, there has not been a chance to bring your pets in for photos. On this occasion, it was fun to see the dogs and their reactions to the Santa HQ set. Not only are there a lot of sounds, and noises, but I am sure the smells of the season really got them excited. Given that some children take a couple of years to get comfortable visiting with Santa, it was not a surprise to see all the hesitation from the dogs. Seeing Santa handle them with the same gentleness as a newborn, he got them all to sit for a few photos. Compared to some babies, the dogs were a little easier to wrangle for the camera! There will be a lot more new fur baby photos by the Christmas stockings this year.

2019 Giving Back – Tysons Partnership

Ruth’s Chris, Tysons, VA

These photos were from the 2019 Giving Back event, the last one covered for the Tysons Partnership this year. Compared to their large holiday reception, this was a smaller gathering at Ruth’s Chris Steak House. It was not, however, smaller in enthusiasm as their crowd was full of holiday spirit. Christmas sweaters were encouraged and unsurprisingly many took advantage!

Thanks again for the Tysons Partnership for having me cover events for them this year! Now that the year is over, I am reviewing the photos from the blog. Overall, I think I delivered on what they were expecting from me, and I hope the Partnership finds the images useful. However, I am very grateful to have had access to their panels, forums, and being in the rooms where Tysons is taking shape. Whenever you stand on top looking down from a new tower, or drive through a newly developed neighborhood, it makes me appreciate the effort to get there. Meghan, Ellen, Ronit, Drew, and Sol, thanks for your support! I hope you have a great holiday season, and I’ll see you for more projects in 2020.
