Plaza – Tysons, VA

Earlier this month, I photographed an Iviva event at Tysons Corner Center. This brand is a subsidiary of Lululemon that produces yoga clothing. At this time, a large group of young ladies came to participate. Compared to most events out on the Plaza, this was the most peaceful, calming activity I have covered there. Unlike other events, the attendees were experienced with the movements.

Specifically thinking about the photos, I was drawn to the pattern of all the yoga mats. Since they had a similar color palette, they made a nice repeating element against the swirls of the Plaza floor. Going higher was therefore the best way to capture these. Additionally, having a single person on each mat emphasized the forms.

Afterwards, I made a lot of group photos. The Iviva team had giveaways to go along with the programming for the event. As can be seen they were willing to get some nice photos with their branding along the mall signs!

Tysons Tower Club

Last week, I photographed the 2017 Legislative Breakfast produced by the Tysons Chamber at the Tower Club. Since the Virginia legislative session has ended, the panel and speakers gave updates on the bills and budgets passed. Especially for this crowd, the ones that impacted businesses in Fairfax and Tysons were the focus.

Since I was not very familiar with how these sessions worked, I appreciated the overview. Not only did they tell of some of their plans for the future, the panelists encouraged participation. On this occasion there was time to get in front of VIPs in attendance. Dr. Gerry Gordon from the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority was the moderator for the event. Supervisor John Foust, State Senator Janet Howell, Congressman Gerry Connolly, and State Delegate Mark Keam spoke on a panel. Undoubtedly this kind of representation is important for the Chamber. Having this caliber of speakers as a result allows business owners in Tysons some access to our most powerful policy makers.

Tysons, VA

Similarly to last week’s post about exterior photos, I found some 2016 Tysons Interior images that I wanted to add to the blog. In this situation, it was more important to have many people in the frame. Since these were supposed to illustrate many people seeing advertisements, I waited for the right time for each of these.

With attention to getting a large number of people in the frame, I made my chances better by going on Saturday. Late morning to after lunch is what I tried on this occasion. Overall, a tripod was necessary for all of these photos. I prefer a 1/15th of a second for this purpose. You can still see the forms of people, however, they are usually blurred. Thus, you cannot identify them by their faces making them appropriate for use publicly. Surely patience is needed to get just the right amount of people filling in the spaces in the frame. It easily makes this the place where you want to be on the weekend!
