The Boro – Tysons, Virginia

These photos were from the 2017 Clarence Clottey shoot at his office. Located in the Boro, you can obviously see the explosive development in the area. With this in mind, it was a perfect setting for Clarence’s custom men’s clothing. On this occasion, Clarence wanted to get some individual photos of shirts and ties for his website, then we got some photos of him modeling a suit around his work place.

In general, I am unfamiliar with being daring with my clothing. Certainly Clarence can help businessmen stand out with his bespoke options for suits, shirts, and accessories. Just prior to this shoot, he received a shipment from the factory in Europe where they produce his apparel. If you are looking specifically for a color or coordinate style, Clarence can create a look for you. With this in mind, he had a couple of customers come to his office to pick up recent orders. As a backdrop, his office in the Boro was a showcase of the growing Tysons area as well as the modern office spaces that are coming soon.

Baltimore, Maryland

Earlier this month, I photographed Aeren Waters at Qui Piece in Baltimore. This shoot marked another progression in Nerea’s fashion career! Previously I have made images of some of her designs. Colorful purses, bags, and accessories are the main products in her line so far. Being that she was also a colleague from the lab branching out into an art business, I am very supportive of her efforts!

On this occasion, she wanted to get some images in front of the Qui Piece store front. Not only will this location now have some of her pieces for sale, but Nerea also teaches some sewing classes here. It was heartening to see her giving back by teaching others to further their skills in fashion!

Although we met in the early afternoon, I still found some good areas for photos. Given that it was overcast for the day, we had some nice even light on her face. I only popped a little fill flash balanced with ambient for a little lift. Best of luck with Nerea for the new store front!

Speed of Life – Model Shoot

Ashburn, Virginia

In January, I photographed a project with Kyle McKay from MXK Productions. Mehr and Kyle had a styled shoot based around the song, Speed of Life by David Bowie. In light of his recent death, the shoot was styled with inspiration from his song. Being that I was not available to go to the studio with the production, I did a behind-the-scenes look at them getting ready. However, I was able to setup a small headshot lighting setup to get a quick preview for what was to come later.

Mehr Bano was the primary make up artist that worked on the production. Since there were so many models that had to be done before leaving for the studio, there was a tight schedule to finish. In that case, I photographed as much of the action as it happened. The hair styling, makeup, henna, clothing – there was a lot going on in particular after the basics were done.

Small Headshot Lighting Studio

Whenever a model was ready for the camera, I brought them to a mobile lighting setup that I brought with me. With the limited space, it was one light only. With a black background, I love how these turned out. This shoot was produced in the hope that they would be published. Best of luck to everyone that helped to make it happen!
