Tysons Corner Center

Last week was 2019 Black Friday – the busiest shopping day at Tysons Corner Center. In light of it being a couple of years since I have been here the day after Thanksgiving, it was a spectacle! The Macerich marketing team wanted me to get some great images specifically of the crowds. In general, there was no area inside that was not filled with shoppers. Moreover, there was significant traffic coming into the center in cars!

The open area overlooking the levels from the 3rd Floor Food court is an especially nice viewpoint. Because of the nice large skylight windows, this sunny day really had a lot of light streaming in. Hopefully everyone braved the conditions and finished all their shopping!

Tysons Tower Club

The Tysons Chamber held the 2019 Tysons 2050 this week at the McLean Hilton in short to envision the future. Being a signature event for the Chamber, a lot of work went into this evening to demonstrate the reach of the Chamber. Not only were there 3 different panels of speakers, but the atrium had a technology expo with area companies presenting. Similarly to previous years, Live, Work, and Play panels spoke in the ballroom. Given that some large projects were recently approved, there was a buzz in the room. Visions of 2050 were already in motion at the present time!

Networking

Prior to the start of the panel presentations, there was plenty of time for networking. Given that making connections is the main goal of the Chamber, this achieved that end. Equally important to the panel photos is seeing how and where people make business connections. Afterwards I sent these images to the marketing committee. On this occasion there was plenty to showcase why people should join.

2019 Tysons 2050

Since I could not make last year’s event, this was a new setup for me. Although I have been in this ballroom many times for dance events, this was a new physical layout. Thus I knew where to setup lights so I could make some better images in this dark room!

Tysons Corner Center

Since we are starting Fall, I wanted to post about the 2019 3rd Quarter Media posted in and around Tysons Corner Center. Similarly to earlier in the year, it is nice to highlight some of the changes that keeps the mall a vibrant and effective showcase area. Since it is harder to plan, the outside photos of the pylon signs I was happy to make. The Route 7 specifically had a sunset shining through the space behind the sign and through the trees nicely. For photography geeks, having a really small aperture will create the nice rays from the sun.

Inside, the mall were new hanging and digital banners. Since Halloween is coming soon, the signs for American Scream projected very nicely on the digital board. Having the contrast between the dark background and the light text really made this one pop out especially from farther away. Fanta also had a digital tie-in with codes printed on their face. When you pointed your smartphone at the ad, they would come to life with more dynamic content! Surely this shows what it possible with handheld technology. Perhaps this would be something that photographers could take advantage of with all of their images!
