1st Half 2019 Studio Headshots

Fairfax, Virginia

Today, I am recapping the 1st Half 2019 Studio Headshots that I did not yet add to the blog. At first is Terri who was looking for new headshots as she ran for a local board. Being that we met while working at TEDxTysons events, it made sense that she was looking to run for the McLean Community Center board. With this in mind, her simple black top keeps the frame non-distracting. Especially since these photos will likely be small on a webpage, having the face be the focal point is very important. This is how most headshots are viewed these days.

Mary and her family own an HVAC company. Every week at our business networking group, Mary consistently talks about her expanding capabilities at her business. After producing some standard background headshots, I asked her if she had a favorite color. Purple was her choice, so of course, I did my best to get a nice purple in the background. In this case, I did it in camera, not in Photoshop! Using gels like in theater lighting, I changed the light gray background to purple. It is always fun to play in the studio!

Finally, we have Lyndon, a low key showman! During the day, he is a capable health insurance professional. On the weekends, he is an awesome event DJ! He has a great voice that really carries well over a microphone. Also, his years of experience in selecting music and playing for party crowds makes him a great addition to your reception. I hope to run into him at a wedding someday!

Tysons Tower Club

Last month, I photographed Fairfax County: The Power of Place – an event produced by the Fairfax Couty Economic Development Authority. On this occasion, the venue was the beautiful Tower Club in Tysons. When you need to impress visitors to the area, this is the best location to put your best foot forward. To that end, the County was hosting visitors from an international convention in downtown DC. Meanwhile, speakers included representatives from businesses that have prospered in the area. Indeed, the setup of the conference room was perfect for photos. Though there was a strong light coming through the windows, they situated the speakers facing the light making good exposures easy to manage!

2019 2nd Quarter Media

Tysons Corner Center

This post combines some of my favorites from the 2019 2nd Quarter Media at Tysons Corner Center. Since they have so many open spaces that are designed for showcases, there was a nice diversity over this year for their use. Although you do not think of a field of flowers in the middle of Tysons, the Field of Tulips pop up produced the experience. While it was there, this pop up had flowering tulips with replantable bulbs installed in Fashion Court. Additionally, more tulips were placed through other locations in the mall to bring a bit of Spring throughout.

On the Plaza, the Virginia Tourism LOVE letters were placed for a short time. Similarly to the Hollywood sign, the installation had layers of meanings. Some thought of it has a suggestion, some saw the state tourism motto, and some said it expressed their feelings for the community. It was a nice setting for the warming weather!
