2019 Staff Headshots

2019 Staff Headshots

Conference Room setup

Last month, I completed the 2019 Staff Headshots at Tysons Corner Center. Since they needed some updates for their staff photos, I set up a mobile setup in one of their conference rooms. Although they would not be in the studio, I have a mobile lighting setup that is of the same quality as a studio session. It is important to chiefly make these images look like they were in the studio, and not in a cramped room where they typically have meetings.

On this occasion, the biggest challenge was a large conference table that was not movable. Whereas the room was filled with conference room fixtures, the first task was to take out everything from the room to give us as much room to work. Instead of fighting with the large table, I took advantage by having my lighting in the middle of it! This brought the light as close to the subjects as possible.

Lastly, I had to setup a backdrop and reflector. While the main light was plenty for these, I could not setup a kicker of fill light. So, I was able to gaffer tape a reflector on a nearby wall to bounce back some light. This was just enough to recover some of the shadows which is my preferred set up for professional business portraits.

Tysons On-Location Headshots

Tysons On-Location Headshots

Tysons, Virginia

I missed blogging about these two Tysons On-Location Headshots. Going with the ladies first, I made some headshots for Julie. In short, she needed a headshot for a national pageant she was competing. On this occasion, she was hosting an event at the Sheraton in Tysons. Scouting the area, the balcony on the mezzanine level was right in line with their ballroom chandelier. When you have this kind of opportunity, you go for the most sparkle you can get especially when you are photographing a beauty queen!

By comparison, Roscoe is a beauty of a different sort. As can be seen, he is a professional businessman who networks all throughout the DMV area. For his headshots, the Tower Club in Tysons was a beautiful natural setting. Not only is this a place where a lot of important business takes place, but it overlooks Tysons from a nice vantage. Both the balcony, and the club’s executive meeting rooms nicely set his new business portraits.

I was contacted by a referral from the Tysons Chamber to NetStrategies who needed to make new Trimark Headshots for a website update. On this occasion, the entire staff in the office was due for a refresh. With this in mind, it was easier for me to being a mobile lighting setup to their location for the day. Since there would be multiple people, I had Mary R. accompany me to do make up touch ups throughout the day.

Given that this was my first time going to this location, I arrived early for the session to set up. Comparatively, they had a roomy conference room where I could set up the lighting. Together with a seamless white paper background, the photography for the portraits was nice and clean for their website refresh. Overall, I was welcomed by the staff at the Trimark office. They were very helpful in getting us situated so that the task of getting everyone done was smooth. Since I send the photos right to the computer, it was possible for everyone to approve their headshot before they left the studio! I think the headshots along with the new NetStrategies website worked very well together.
