The photos from last weekend’s 2018 Baltimore Dancesport Challenge have been released at the TimeLine Media proofing site. This was the 10th anniversary of this fun competition! Thanks to Marielle Pabon for inviting us to photograph the festivities this year. Being on St. Patrick’s Day weekend, it was a party all weekend. To see the 4700+ photos click the link here:

We caught up with many familiar friends over the weekend. Some we see at other events, and some we only see at this event. Of course That’s Dancing Ballroom had a large representation here. Carlos was on the floor for most of the day!

Also, there were some solo routines presented. In addition to showing dance skills, these had added artistry to the presentation. Choreography is matched to music. At the same time the movement conveys the music for the audience. Besides having control of the music, they have command of the floor as well!

Studio Session

Earlier this year, I brought my lighting kit to Studio Arto for a 2017 Maryland Headshots session with some clients. From time to time it is inconvenient for clients to come to Virginia for their studio sessions. So as to accommodate, I found this Studio in Rockville, MD that worked nicely! Although I have my own set, this studio included the lights in the rental fee.

At this time, I had to familiarize myself with the set up in the studio. Prior to my current brand of lights, I had the same Hensel lights that they had set up in the studio. With one light hanging from the ceiling, it was easy to change the background as can be seen in the photos. Comparatively, you can have the gray wall above, or the white below depending on what look you are going for. On one hand, the middle gray can be a little ‘warmer’ looking. But the white background is very clean, and easy to cut out the background if you would like the transparency to use in graphic design documents.

70 Year Celebration – Carl M. Freeman Companies

Tusculum Farm

Last fall, I photographed the 70 Year Celebration for the Carl M. Freeman Companies. Since I had not been to this venue before, I arrived very early for the event. Tusculum Farm in Laytonsville, Maryland was where the employees and their families met for the celebration. This was a particularly beautiful setting for an outside celebration. Again, I was thankful for the referral from current clients for new work!

As the day progressed, there were so many activities for guests to do. There was plenty of food and drink to sample from barbecue to beer trucks. Additionally, there was a cigar specialist that was giving tutorials on smoking cigars with sips of brandy. While walking through the farm, I was impressed with the art pieces that made the place more interesting than the typical farm. Finally, the group photo of all the employees that could make the 70 year celebration capped a great Freeman Day at the Farm.
