Tysons Chamber

Last month, I photographed the Tysons Chamber 2017 Breakfast Near Tiffanys event. On this occasion the Woman’s Leadership Committee held this networking meeting at Chef Geoff’s in Tysons. Being that it is next to the Tiffany’s location, the title was perfect!

Although this is a new event from other’s that the Chamber produces, it had a nice friendly feeling. The room was packed, so I tried to work as quiet as I could all things considered. Due to the full tables, and scant room to move, I did not stay there for the speakers. Besides being a distraction, I did not want my shutter to take away from the presentation.

In addition to the business presentations, breakfast, and networking, this was about shopping! Chef Geoff’s is located adjacent to the beautiful Tiffany’s jewelry store. Many of the attendees took advantage of their early opening to continue the event there.

McLean Hilton, Tysons, VA

This week I covered ‘Key Trends and Transformation Projects in Tysons’ at the McLean Hilton. In light of their overarching presence in the area, I was excited for the opportunity to work with them. This event had a distinguished panel of speakers. For this reason, the event was well attended, and the ballroom packed for the presentations.

The Hilton McLean is of course a familiar venue for me to photograph. Similarly, I was familiar with many faces that attended the meeting. It was helpful since I was anxious to be photographing for a new client. While everyone was there to network and meet stakeholders in Tysons, this was a very friendly crowd.

Thanks to Meghan Trossen, Director of Programs and Partnerships, who hired me for this assignment! Although she had a lot of responsibilities during the event, she was especially helpful to make sure I had what I needed. We met at a TEDxTysons barbecue, and I suppose she liked my work for their events. Hopefully, we can work on even more projects in the future. The Tysons Partnership is making Tysons into the next great city, and I want to photograph the changes!

Tysons Tower Club

Last week, I photographed the 2017 Legislative Breakfast produced by the Tysons Chamber at the Tower Club. Since the Virginia legislative session has ended, the panel and speakers gave updates on the bills and budgets passed. Especially for this crowd, the ones that impacted businesses in Fairfax and Tysons were the focus.

Since I was not very familiar with how these sessions worked, I appreciated the overview. Not only did they tell of some of their plans for the future, the panelists encouraged participation. On this occasion there was time to get in front of VIPs in attendance. Dr. Gerry Gordon from the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority was the moderator for the event. Supervisor John Foust, State Senator Janet Howell, Congressman Gerry Connolly, and State Delegate Mark Keam spoke on a panel. Undoubtedly this kind of representation is important for the Chamber. Having this caliber of speakers as a result allows business owners in Tysons some access to our most powerful policy makers.
