Capital One HQ – Tysons

Last September, I photographed the 2017 Social Media Week Fairfax event for the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority. Even though this was not the first time I was in this space, it is an impressive meeting area. Concurrently, there was an impressive array of speakers and panelists throughout the event. Hosted by Sarah Fraser, the topics centered around social media and its impact to fulfill marketing missions of organizations. Regardless of what sector you work, social media was making an impact and had many issues to discuss. Speakers included, CEOs, government communications, freelance artists, and other influencers. It was an educational day for me and my small business, and I look forward to the next one!

Barns of Wolf Trap

Lessons Learned was the newest TEDxTysons salon event. Prior to the night of the event, I visited the space with other volunteers. Since I had never been to the Barns of Wolf Trap before, this was a good move. As a venue, this was a particularly appropriate site for their talks. Not only do they have a fully-equipped stage, but they have a food and reception area just outside the auditorium.

Speakers – Lessons Learned – TEDxTysons

When the show started, it was immediately apparent that this was stage ready for productions. Stage lighting and perfect acoustics elevated the TEDx experience for the audience. In contrast to the other venues that were in corporate locations, this felt like a production in a cinema. The presenters talked about learning from mistakes, overcoming failures, and enduring loss. In general, the speakers really engaged through authentic stories, inspiring outcomes, and a little humor! Check the TEDxTysons site for the videos that will be released soon.

Capital One – Tysons, VA

TEDxTysons held their newest main event at the Capital One Headquarters. impact – TEDxTysons was a full Saturday of speakers, networking, and ideas worth spreading. As can be seen in the photos, the headquarters in Capital One was a beautiful, forward-looking venue for TEDx talks. In light of a large tower being built right outside the auditorium, this space was a showcase of possibility.

The atrium heading into the auditorium was a beautifully lit space. Very large open skylights and windows allows daylight to spill into the space. For photos in front of the step and repeat, this was an easy assignment given that the light was bouncing around everywhere!

The speakers gave talks about individuals creating impact. Thus, the impact title becomes [i]mpact. Talks attempt to explain where does this impact come from, and how does it grow? To illustrate this is one of the talks, I contributed one of my photos from above Tysons. Undoubtedly, I was blown away about seeing my photo up there. Moreover seeing it in conjunction with a TEDx talk has been a highlight of my photography career so far. Thanks to TEDxTysons for the opportunity to be a part!
