2018 Midsummer Reception – Tysons Partnership

Convene – Tysons, VA

Last week, I photographed the 2018 Midsummer Reception for the Tysons Partnership. At this time, the members and guests gathered at the beautiful Convene conference center in Tysons. For a photographer in particular, this is an amazing venue. From the main conference room, there were large panoramic windows wrapped around the building. Just outside, you can see the towers in Tysons II and also the Tysons towers across 123.

On this occasion, the room was packed to the edges with attendees. Restaurants from the area gave away samples in order to show off their capabilities. In this situation, the size of the event, and the variety of foods made a good mix. Similarly to other Tysons Partnership events, it was an amazing networking event, and showcase of area businesses. I really enjoyed the space and look forward to coming back for a future event!

Leukemia and Lymphoma Society

Earlier this month I photographed the 2018 MWOY Grand Finale for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. By all means, this was the largest event I have ever covered! Thankfully, I did not have the responsibility completely on my own. In this case, I was a member of a team. We split the areas correspondingly to make sure all aspects of the evening were covered.

Prior to attending, I had no experience with any of the events from the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. With attention to their mission of raising money for research into blood cancers, I was inspired by the energy in the room! Moreover the amount of money they raised over the campaign together will do amazing work to find needed cancer treatments.

Basis Independent McLean

Last week, the Tysons Partnership held the 2018 Tysons Open House at the Basis Independent McLean school. As can be seen in the photos, this is a modern school for early education to high school students. Not only did they have a main open hallway for the event, they also had an auditorium, and convention space for vendors and sponsors to setup booths.

At this point, I was familiar with the Basis Independent location in Tysons, as they displayed lots of advertising in the area. Moreover, representatives have attended many events in the area. Since I had never been onsite before, I arrived as early as possible to do some scouting. In this case the Tysons Partnership had an extensive setup throughout the school. I set some extra lighting to illuminate such a large space! Afterwards, I really enjoyed reviewing the photos from this event. Not only was it a new venue to photograph but having familiar faces in the crowd made it a fun event to cover.
